182 Soc Trang OCOP products on e-commerce platform

The e-commerce platform Soctrangtrade.vn has become a bridge, introducing 182 OCOP Soc Trang products closer to consumers, expanding market access opportunities.

After 5 years of implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, Soc Trang province has recorded 263 products of 150 qualified entities. Of which, there is 1 potential 5-star OCOP product; 26 4-star products and the remaining 236 products have achieved 3 stars.

To promote trade promotion activities for Soc Trang OCOP products, the locality has established the e-commerce platform Soctrangtrade.vn. Up to now, this system has introduced and promoted about 182/262 OCOP products, with 70 participating entities, accounting for more than 69%.

In addition, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has supported 11 localities to launch food safety stores, prioritizing the introduction and sale of OCOP products. At the same time, it has supported the establishment of 6 points of display and sale of Soc Trang OCOP products in My Xuyen, Tran De, Vinh Chau, Chau Thanh districts and Soc Trang city. To date, the province has had 12 points of display and sale of OCOP products.

According to the assessment of the provincial agricultural sector, currently, many entities are in the form of business households and cooperatives, in terms of organizational structure, experience in developing OCOP products and trade promotion is still limited. Therefore, in the coming time, to increase support for entities, the province will prioritize focusing on packaging design to enhance the aesthetics and attractiveness of products. Ensure that products meet the criteria of beauty, luxury, and labeling according to regulations.

On the other hand, the Department of Rural Development (under the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) also focuses on supporting advanced certification to improve product quality such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, ISO, HACCP...

At the same time, in order for potential products to achieve OCOP and be able to develop effectively after being certified, the provincial agricultural sector has deployed support for technology, machinery and equipment. Building a traceability system for products; registering intellectual property. Promoting trade, introducing OCOP products; building websites, e-commerce.

Up to now, Soc Trang OCOP entities have linked with companies and businesses to consume nearly 1,680 tons of fruit products to domestic and foreign markets.

Mr. Tran Trong Khiem, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in the coming time, the provincial agricultural sector will promote trade promotion activities for OCOP products in many forms such as: Fairs, e-commerce platforms, display points, advertising on mass media... Strengthening connections with tourism promotion activities to combine promotion and bring the province's OCOP products to consumers.
