In the first half of 2024, Tay Ninh province exported 11.41 million USD worth of fruits and vegetables, accounting for 1.08% of the total export turnover of the Southeast region and 0.34% of the total export turnover of the whole country. Tay Ninh's main export markets for fruits and vegetables are the Netherlands, China, Japan, Germany, Cambodia, etc.

In 2023, the local agricultural export turnover also increased by 15% compared to the previous year, reaching 1.5 billion USD. Currently, Tay Ninh is promoting the export of key agricultural products, in order to promote economic growth and affirm its position in the international agricultural market.

One of the important factors helping Tay Ninh make a breakthrough in agricultural export activities is that in 2023 the province achieved disease-free zone certification for key agricultural products such as rice, cassava, and rubber.

The disease-free zone is a favorable condition for businesses operating in the field of animal production and processing of animal products to feel secure in production and business, and is also a place that other businesses prioritize for investment, especially investors applying high technology, having chain linkages and aiming for export.

Maintaining disease-free zones helps agricultural enterprises access demanding markets while meeting requirements for traceability and strict supply chain management. Therefore, Tay Ninh province has long identified the construction of disease-free facilities and zones as an important task in implementing the local economic development strategy.

Achieving this standard means that the province's agricultural products meet strict requirements on food safety and hygiene, helping these products easily access demanding markets such as the EU, Japan, and the US; creating momentum for businesses to expand their export activities to international markets.

Towards large scale production

Tay Ninh is one of the localities actively attracting investment in high-tech agriculture when many large enterprises come to learn, invest, and build agricultural chains applying modern technology.

According to the Global General Director of Royal De Hues Group (Netherlands) Gabor Fluit - one of two groups investing in the DHN Tay Ninh high-tech agricultural complex chain, to develop high-tech agriculture, there must be large land; must build a disease-safe area; and at the same time, there must be investment cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises.

Tay Ninh, with its abundant agricultural potential, is aiming to become a leading agricultural export center. The agricultural sector accounts for nearly 20% of the province's GRDP and contributes more than VND21,725 ​​billion, and is being strongly promoted through the application of high technology, aiming for large-scale production and meeting international standards.

The province also focuses on developing high-tech agricultural production areas. By 2030, it is expected that there will be 11 such production areas, each of which will form at least one linkage and product consumption chain, contributing to improving the value and quality of agricultural products.

It is known that developing high-tech agriculture according to the value chain is a priority development orientation and one of the strategic breakthroughs of Tay Ninh province. In recent times, the province has applied high technology in agricultural production on most of the key agricultural products such as rice, vegetables, fruit trees, rubber trees, flowers, ornamental plants; raising cows, pigs, and poultry.

Not only Tay Ninh, many localities in the country have been making efforts to achieve disease-free zones and facilities. Building disease-free zones is one of the important solutions not only to proactively prevent and control diseases but also to help Vietnam's exported livestock products meet the requirements of openness and transparency in the livestock production chain from breeding, feed, disease prevention, preliminary processing, processing... according to regulations in new-generation free trade agreements.

Experts say that in the context of deep integration as present, provinces, cities and enterprises need to have correct awareness of policies and strategies; invest properly to build chains and safe areas for animal diseases to serve export, and increase the value of the livestock industry in the agricultural structure.
