Attending the Conference at Yen Bai bridge point were leaders of the Departments of Agriculture and Environment, Finance, Industry and Trade, Science and Technology, and Construction.
At the Conference, delegates listened to representatives of the Institute of Irrigation Planning (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) present two drafts: Irrigation planning for the Red - Thai Binh river basin for the period 2022 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 and Irrigation planning for the Mekong river basin for the period 2022 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The plan is designed to study and propose solutions for irrigation development to exploit, comprehensively use and sustainably develop water resources in the Red - Thai Binh and Mekong River basins, taking into account the impact of climate change, upstream development, serving multiple purposes; proactively draining water for agriculture combined with urban and industrial drainage... in the irrigation system; preventing floods for the river basin; contributing to improving the water environment, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development, ensuring water security of the basin until 2030, with a vision to 2050; serving as a basis for developing annual, 5-year and long-term irrigation development plans in the basin.
At the Conference, delegates discussed and gave their opinions on the content of the water resources scenario for river basins. They focused on the content and options for irrigation planning to serve multiple purposes, ensure water security, be suitable to reality, meet the requirements of socio-economic development, and ensure the feasibility of the planning in implementation.
Concluding the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the contributions of the delegates who had seriously studied the documents to provide detailed and constructive comments on the draft planning to ensure quality and efficiency, contributing significantly to the management, regulation, distribution, exploitation and protection of water resources in the river basins. The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to absorb all the opinions and comments of the delegates, promptly edit and complete the draft planning for submission for approval within the set deadline. Continue to coordinate with the National Water Resources Planning and Investigation Centers and related units to carefully evaluate the project options on the mainstream, calculate the impacts in detail, compare economic, technical and environmental efficiency to choose the most suitable and effective option...
