Pepper exports by mid-July earned 690.7 million USD

Preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA) show that in the first 15 days of July 2024, Vietnam exported 9,993 tons of pepper, with a total export turnover of 56.5 million USD. The main exporting enterprises include: Olam Vietnam with 1,272 tons, Phuc Sinh with 1,224 tons; Simexco Dak Lak with 839 tons, Nedspice Vietnam with 796 tons and Tran Chau with 649 tons.

On the other hand, in the first 15 days of July 2024, Vietnam imported 746 tons, with a total import turnover of 4.5 million USD. Olam and KSS Vietnam are the two main importers, respectively reaching 232 tons, accounting for 31.1% and 75 tons, accounting for 10.1%. The main pepper importers of Indonesia reached 438 tons, accounting for 58.7%, and Cambodia reached 229 tons, accounting for 30.7%.

Previously, according to VPSA statistics, by the end of June 2024, Vietnam had exported 142,586 tons of pepper of all kinds, down 6.8% in volume but up 30.5% in value. Of which, the amount of black pepper exported reached 125,959 tons, white pepper reached 16,627 tons. Total export value reached 634.2 million USD, black pepper reached 539.9 million USD, white pepper reached 94.3 million USD.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the United States was Vietnam's largest pepper export market with a volume of 37,435 tons, up 44.6% over the same period last year, accounting for 26.3% of the market share. Next are markets such as Germany with 9,526 tons, up 106.7%; UAE reached 8,388 tons, up 15.2%; India reached 8,173 tons, up 45.7%, China reached 7,453 tons, down 85.2% and the Netherlands reached 6,019 tons, up 52.1%. Leading white pepper export markets: Germany reached 2,454 tons, the US reached 2,044 tons, the Netherlands reached 1,779 tons, Thailand reached 1,732 tons and China reached 1,567 tons...

Along with that, Vietnam imported 18,002 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 16,357 tons, white pepper reached 1,645 tons, total import turnover reached 69.6 million USD, up 18.9% over the same period last year. The three main pepper supplying countries for Vietnam include: Brazil reached 7,241 tons, down 22.3%; Cambodia reached 6,212 tons, up 34.5%; Indonesia reached 2,991 tons, up 67.3%.

Thus, as of mid-July 2024, pepper exports earned 690.7 million USD, while in the opposite direction, Vietnam spent 74.1 million USD to import pepper raw materials. The whole industry had a trade surplus of 616.6 million USD.
