Domestic pepper prices updated on the afternoon of April 12, 2025 |
According to experts, the sharp increase in pepper prices in recent sessions is due to information from the US about the temporary suspension of high import tariffs for 90 days. This has created positive sentiment among farmers and exporters, encouraging them to maintain production and not sell off goods.
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) said that domestic pepper prices are likely to continue to increase in the coming time. Consumption demand in the US market, which depends mainly on imports, is showing signs of recovery.
Experts predict that pepper prices could reach VND200,000/kg in the near future if the current supply-demand situation continues. However, farmers need to maintain stable production and should not sell off their goods.

Despite being affected by tax policies, Vietnamese pepper still maintains a strong position in the US market thanks to its large output and stable quality. In the context of a shrinking global supply, Vietnam continues to be the leading country in pepper production and export.
However, according to VPSA, the US's application of a 10% import tax on all goods imported into this country has caused great concern for Vietnamese pepper exporting enterprises. Because in the first months of 2025, Vietnamese pepper enterprises signed many long-term orders with many US importers; including orders with delivery times until August and September this year.
Faced with this situation, some businesses are considering renegotiating with US importers so that each side will bear a portion of the general tax rate for all imported goods of 10%. Regarding the corresponding tax on goods imported from Vietnam to the US, it is still unclear.
