4 units fined over 500 million for violations of labor safety and hygiene

On the morning of October 13, the Central Steering Committee for the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene held a ceremony to summarize the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in 2023 and plan to organize the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in 2024.

This year, the Action Month on occupational safety and hygiene has achieved certain results, changing the awareness of all levels, sectors and enterprises in ensuring safety, health, occupational diseases... for workers. Many units have also focused on improving technology and working conditions so that workers can work more safely.

Some localities did not have any serious or fatal work accidents in the second quarter such as: Binh Thuan, Bac Lieu, Dak Nong, Ha Giang, Lai Chau...

In addition, some localities have seen a sharp decrease in the rate of work accidents compared to the same period last year, such as: Thua Thien Hue (down 60%), Can Tho (down 36%), and Ho Chi Minh City (down 30%).

As the standing agency of the Central Executive Committee, in the first 6 months of the year, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs organized key inspections and examinations of the enforcement of labor safety and hygiene laws at 33 units, of which 4 units were administratively sanctioned with a fine of 518 million VND.

In addition, the Ministry has deployed propaganda in many forms such as creating a documentary overview of the results in occupational safety and hygiene work in 2022...

According to Director of the Department of Labor Safety, Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Ha Tat Thang, after the end of this year's program, relevant agencies have drafted a plan to implement the Action Month on labor safety and hygiene in 2024 with the following 4 topics:

Ensure occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace and in the supply chain; promote activities to raise awareness of occupational safety and hygiene and reduce stress at the workplace; promote the provision and use of personal protective equipment and prevent falls and occupational accidents; and proactively apply science and technology in occupational safety and hygiene to prevent occupational accidents and occupational diseases.

Expected time of organization from May 1 to 31, 2024.
