After homemade bicycles such as the split-rear-wheel bicycle and the square-wheel bicycle attracted a lot of attention, Ukrainian engineer Sergii Gordieiev continued to create a new bicycle model with triangular wheels, Design Boom reported on May 24. The video of the construction process posted on YouTube shows that the strange bike can still roll on the road like the traditional round-wheeled one. The triangular-wheeled bicycle works like any other bicycle, the rider will pedal and balance to move.
In the video, Sergii shows viewers how to build a triangular-wheeled bicycle. While this type of bicycle may initially seem impossible or uncomfortable to ride, he believes that triangular-wheeled bicycles can still be enjoyable. With a suspension system designed for maximum comfort, the unusually shaped wheels can still ride as smoothly as classic bikes.
By combining subtle curves on each side of the triangular wheel and the use of articulated arms with integrated limiters, Sergii created a bike that can be ridden with minimal vertical movement. He also designed a set of arms and rollers for each wheel, allowing their centers to move in a linear fashion. This design creates parallel lines between each roller and the flat ground.
Sergii overcomes the shape limitations of triangular wheels and makes them actually roll. In addition, the new bike can be suitable for riding on uneven terrain.
