Digital Week 2025: Activities to promote digital growth in Laos

Recently, Laos launched Digital Week 2025 with the theme “Building Resilience and Sustainable Digital Infrastructure for Laos” to enhance the country’s digital capacity. General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith attended and chaired the opening ceremony. The event was attended by leaders of central and local ministries, departments, and agencies, along with many domestic and international guests.

Speaking at the event, Lao Minister of Information and Communications Technology Boviengkham Vongdara stressed that the rapid development of digital technology has become a driving force for global socio-economic progress. Affirming the growing importance of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), he said that Laos must embrace this digital revolution to promote the country's development.

Mr. Boviengkham said the government is working to integrate technology into public administration and services while the private sector is increasingly moving online. To support this transition, the government has set out a national digital transformation strategy focusing on digital government, digital economy and digital society, he said.

Laos Digital Week 2025, taking place in the capital Vientiane from April 2 to 6, will feature a variety of activities, including workshops and forums on technology topics with experts from Laos and abroad.

Within the framework of the program, more than 100 exhibition booths from state agencies and domestic and foreign enterprises introduced many advanced technology products and solutions such as: artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain technology, Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, cyber security, software and modern technology equipment. In addition to introducing products, many enterprises also launched new services, implemented large incentive programs and organized attractive lucky draws.

In addition to professional content, the event also includes art performances and friendly sports exchanges, contributing to creating a united, joyful and connected atmosphere among participating units.

Laos Digital Week 2025 is organized with the coordination, support and sponsorship from many stakeholders, including ministries, sectors, enterprises, telecommunications and technology service providers at home and abroad. The event is expected to contribute to strongly promoting the national digital transformation process, improving the capacity to apply information technology and strengthening Laos' position in the region.
