After 40 years of construction and development, up to now, Song Hinh district has promoted its potential, mobilized all resources, overcome challenges, achieved outstanding results in many fields, and gradually improved the quality of people's lives.
Song Hinh District was established on February 25, 1985. When it was first established, the district had 6 communes with 16,857 people, of which ethnic minorities accounted for 49.5%. The district Party Committee had 16 Party cells with 146 members. To date, the district has 10 communes, 1 town with over 3,000 Party members and a population of over 54,000 people.
40 years of construction and development
In the early years of its establishment, Song Hinh district faced many difficulties and challenges. The district's economy relied mainly on agriculture, and the infrastructure for production and people's lives faced many difficulties. Ethnic minorities still maintained backward production practices, lacked food and clothing. Poor infrastructure, during the rainy season, transportation and communication between regions were isolated. The development of healthcare and education was slow, and facilities for healthcare and education were limited. The staff, teachers, and doctors were both lacking and weak. The electricity and water systems for production and daily life were still difficult; the proportion of hungry and poor households was high...
In response to the requirements of innovation and development, closely following the leadership and direction of the central government and the province, the Party Committee, government and people of Song Hinh district have promoted the tradition of solidarity, joint efforts and unanimous efforts to overcome difficulties and strive to rise up. Up to now, the total production value of all sectors in the district is estimated at 11,205 billion VND. Of which, the production value of agriculture, forestry and fishery is estimated at 2,006 billion VND; the production value of industry, handicrafts and construction is estimated at 6,089 billion VND; the value of trade, services and tourism is estimated at 3,110 billion VND; industrial production is gradually becoming the driving force for economic development. The total state budget revenue in the area is 130 billion VND (55 times higher than in 2000).
Song Hinh district prioritizes investment in infrastructure construction, the total investment capital for basic construction in the period of 2005-2009 is 190 billion VND, and in the period of 2020-2025 is 496 billion VND. Up to now, the entire traffic system in the district has been basically concreted and asphalted, inter-commune and inter-village roads have been expanded. The socio-economic infrastructure system has been invested and upgraded, bringing Hai Rieng town to the level of a type IV urban area and developing Ea Ly commune into a type V urban area. The whole district has 6/10 communes meeting new rural standards (NTM), of which 3 previously poor communes have now met NTM standards; 1 commune has been recognized as an advanced NTM commune, with 3 model residential areas and 6 model gardens. The poverty rate according to multidimensional criteria has decreased to 4.58%.
