Building Dien Khanh into a tourism 'satellite' of Nha Trang

Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the project to adjust the general urban planning of Dien Khanh until 2040.

Dien Khanh Citadel is the tourist center of the district.

Accordingly, the forecast of the total urban population by 2040 is about 250,000 people; the total urban construction land is about 11,975.9 hectares (an average of about 479 m²/person); of which the civil land is about 1,689.7 hectares (an average of about 78.7 m²/person).

The development orientation of urban subdivisions includes 7 areas. Of which, the area north of Cai River, with an area of ​​about 11,451.5 hectares, has an estimated population of about 8,900 people; is a space for developing tourism services associated with cultural - historical values ​​and agricultural ecology.

Orientation for developing experiential ecotourism: adventure mountain climbing, sightseeing, experiencing the landscape on Cai River, sightseeing in the countryside, visiting garden houses and traditional craft villages.

Upgrading, expanding and exploiting tourism services associated with the nature of Am Chua Lake area. Especially close to the culture and national relic of Am Chua, it is oriented as the main driving force for developing trade services - tourism for the entire urban area.

Taking Dien Khanh ancient citadel as the center creates a spread to tourist areas, at the same time arranging a traffic system connecting tourist areas to create a typical tourist route of Dien Khanh district closely linked to the tourism development orientation of Nha Trang city and neighboring areas.

According to travel agencies, Dien Khanh district has many famous relics and places, and is within walking distance from Nha Trang city. However, these destinations are scattered and have not been invested in, so they need to be connected to form tours to explore history and spiritual culture.

"Nha Trang has strengths in island products, but for cruise ship tourists, middle-aged and elderly tourists, eco-tourism and countryside products are very attractive to them. Dien Khanh district has all the natural conditions and geographical location to develop these products. It is important to invest truly professionally, link destinations and promote them," Mr. Bui Minh Thang - Director of Phuong Thang Trade Tourism Service Company Limited - suggested.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism - said that in the province's tourism development strategy, Dien Khanh district will be a satellite of Nha Trang tourism. To develop, the district must create a chain of tourism product values ​​in the area to bring to tourists.

To do that, it is necessary to mobilize the participation of potential and enthusiastic tourism businesses in the tourism sector, and research the establishment of Dien Khanh tourism association (under the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association).

According to the Tourism - Trade Development Program from 2018 to 2020 and after 2020 of the People's Committee of Dien Khanh district, by 2025, this district strives to reach about 700,000 to 1 million visitors, with revenue of about 50 billion VND. The number of tourist accommodation rooms is from 200 to 300 rooms. The average growth rate of the number of visitors is 15 - 20%/year, of which international visitors increase by 5 - 7%/year.
