Bai Tu Long National Park is one of the few national parks in the country that has both a terrestrial area (a system of floating islands with forests and forest land) and a marine area ( sea surface, lagoons, flooded tidal flats) . The wild and fresh nature makes anyone who has had the opportunity to set foot here leave a special and unforgettable impression.

Bai Tu Long National Park is located in Bai Tu Long Bay, Van Don District. The difference between Bai Tu Long and the neighboring Ha Long Bay is that the island part here includes mountainous islands interspersed with limestone islands, with more than 40 large and small islands. When viewed from afar, we have the impression that they are ramparts with layers of rocky mountains, overlapping each other, making it impossible to pass through. On the contrary, when approaching, countless paths open up for us to dream of discovering the mysteries of millions of years in the rocks.
The islands of Bai Tu Long National Park are divided into 3 main clusters: Ba Mun, Tra Ngo and Sau. Of which, Tra Ngo island has a very special geological structure, one island body has 2 geological foundations with very different origins. The northern part of the island is "earthen mountains" occupying more than 1/3 of the island. The southern part of the island is limestone mountains, forming hidden coves in the mountains, creating very unique and attractive landscapes. Ba Mun is the largest earthen island in the island complex of Bai Tu Long National Park. Currently, the island is still the forest with the largest animal density in the Northeast region of Vietnam...
With diverse topography and geology, the ecosystem of the National Park is very diverse, including 6 typical ecosystems: Tropical rainforest ecosystem on the island of soil; Tropical rainforest ecosystem on the island of limestone; Mangrove forest ecosystem; Coral reef ecosystem; Seagrass ecosystem and pine and cypress ecosystem in the heart of limestone mountains. This place has diverse genetic resources, including both in the forest and under the sea, including species such as: Deer, Wild boar, Leopard, Python, King cobra, Eye gecko, Pearl oyster, Double-leafed Huynh dan, Kim giao, Green ironwood, sea cucumber, abalone, sea turtle, dolphin...

According to incomplete statistics of scientists and results of annual biodiversity surveys and monitoring, as of 2022, a total of 2,415 species of organisms have been recorded, including 1,195 species of forest flora and fauna and 1,220 species of marine life in Bai Tu Long National Park. Of which, the total number of species recorded in the Vietnam Red Book, species on the list of endangered, precious and rare is 106 species.
In addition to its biodiversity value, Bai Tu Long National Park also contains beautiful landscape values. The system of limestone islands and earthen islands interspersed here has created wonderful scenes of wild and fascinating nature. They have many shapes, allowing imagination to soar with the rock islands shaped like swimming swans, giant stone horses, then Thien Thu island, Con Quy island, Thach Ma island, Ban Co Tien island... Along with that are the lush vegetation populations covering the mountain ranges all year round, the clear blue sea creeks running between the green of the islands on both sides. Then the golden sand beaches with pristine beauty are the captivating landscapes, such as: Quan Lan, Minh Chau, Ngoc Vung, Bai Dai...

In particular, on Minh Chau island commune, near Chuong Nep beach with gentle waves and kilometers of fine sand, there is also Con Trui sand beach, which is the nesting and laying ground for the turtles - one of the globally protected sea turtle species. Con Trui sand beach is also very beautiful but quite dangerous to humans because of its steep slope, sometimes accreting, sometimes eroding ... but it is very safe for sea turtles to reproduce. For a long time, they have not returned here to reproduce because of human impact in the surrounding area, but the sand beach is still fenced off, with a no-bathing sign posted to wait for the turtles to return...
Through research, it is known that Bai Tu Long National Park has built a Forest Ranger Headquarters in Minh Chau Commune, 3 Forest Ranger Stations in Cai Lim, Ba Mun, Lach Che and 1 Mobile Forest Ranger Station. The units are equipped with 3 high-speed boats and regularly patrol the sea route to promptly prevent activities that harm resources, preserve the biodiversity and landscape of Bai Tu Long National Park.
Along with that, the unit has coordinated with many international organizations, non-governmental organizations, universities and research institutes to investigate and evaluate biodiversity as a basis for implementing conservation and scientific research projects. At the same time, implementing environmental education and propaganda activities to raise awareness in preserving and conserving the values of Bai Tu Long National Park.
