According to the people's feedback, the People's Committee of Ha Linh commune has leveled 5% of the land to create a flat area of about 1 hectare right under the foot of the highway bridge. This location is also the entrance and exit point of the highway, intersecting with National Highway 217.
Since the first day of Tet, the commune committee has lent a local resident the area to use as a parking lot for tourists visiting Cao Pagoda, causing this stretch of road to become chaotic. Motorbikes and cars constantly come and go, causing traffic jams and posing a potential risk of traffic accidents.
Mr. Chung Van Hung (a resident) said that the parking lot right at the beginning of the expressway is very dangerous for vehicles participating in traffic.
In addition, the parking lot is hundreds of meters long, along National Highway 217, with heavy traffic, posing a risk of accidents for both people parking and vehicles on the highway.
“During Tet holidays, the parking lot is crowded and traffic jams last for a long time. In the days after Tet, there are still many people going to the pagoda, and cars constantly going in and out of the parking lot is very dangerous,” said Mr. Hung.
According to Mr. Hung, in addition to providing parking services, there are also many electric cars taking visitors up and down the temple. During busy times, visitors who have no seats have to hang on the sides of the electric cars.
Speaking with VietNamNet, a leader of Ha Linh commune admitted that lending land to a household to use as a parking lot was wrong and posed a potential risk of traffic accidents.
“In 2023, the demand for people to visit the pagoda was high, cars parked from the pagoda onto the street causing traffic jams. This year, the commune lent a local person a parking lot to keep cars to reduce traffic jams. This is only a temporary lot. To build a parking lot, it must be licensed by the authorities, connected to the national highway and the land use purpose must be changed,” said this leader.
