On the afternoon of November 30, Mr. Hoang Hiep, a restaurant owner in Lam Son ward, Thanh Hoa city, Thanh Hoa province, said he had found the customer who mistakenly transferred 270 million VND for a lunch at the restaurant.
"Thanks to the press and social networks, this afternoon, November 30, the customer contacted us to confirm the amount of money transferred by mistake. The restaurant made an appointment for the customer to come to the police tomorrow morning (December 1) to work together and hand over the above amount of money," said Mr. Hiep.

According to Mr. Hiep, the customer who transferred the wrong amount of money was Ms. HTTT (born in 1983, in Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa province), who had just returned from working in Taiwan. After lunch at the restaurant, when transferring money, she mistakenly looked at the wrong number and transferred 270 million VND without knowing it.
After reading the information in the newspaper, the female diner contacted the restaurant, proving her personal information and the time of the money transfer.
"When we posted the information on social media, many people called to pretend to be the person who transferred the money by mistake, intending to scam. In Ms. T's case, after checking the information and security camera images, we determined that she was the person who transferred the money by mistake, so we made an appointment for her to come over to hand over the money," Mr. Hiep added.
Previously, at around 1:37 p.m. on November 24, a customer ate at a restaurant in Lam Son ward, Thanh Hoa city, and spent 270,000 VND but mistakenly transferred 270 million VND.
When the restaurant discovered it, the customer had already left. Wanting to return the money to the customer, the restaurant owner posted information on his personal page and social media groups to find the absent-minded customer.
