Hana Tour - Korea's largest travel company - has just announced the results of its analysis of overseas travel bookings departing in July and August this year.
Accordingly, Vietnam is the most favorite destination for Koreans in the summer of 2023. The analysis results also show that foreign tourism activities are gradually returning to normal for Koreans after a long period of stagnation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Data released by Hana Tour on June 12 shows that the percentage of customers choosing to come to Vietnam for vacation accounts for the highest proportion at 19.9%, followed by Japan at 18.2%, Europe (17.6%), China (13.3%) and Thailand (6.4%).
The peak period for Korean summer travel will fall around the last 2 weeks of July and the beginning of August, specifically the week starting from July 24 to August 6. The reason for the concentration of travel during this period is mainly because Korean students are starting their summer vacation. Therefore, the demand for foreign travel also enters its peak period.
Notably, booking rates for small group tours, between friends or a group of people who know each other, are on the rise.
Hana Tour said that since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the trend of traveling in small groups with relatives and friends has been more popular with customers than traveling in groups of 20 people or more. In addition, package tours with celebrities on predetermined themes have continued to receive attention from customers.
In 2022, Hana Tour's tour booking rate to Vietnam will account for 26.2%, with 1 in 4 Koreans who want to travel abroad in July and August choosing Vietnam. This is followed by Guam (10.9%), Western Europe (9%), the Philippines (8.9%) and Japan (8%).
