On March 6, an interdisciplinary delegation of Public Security - Diplomacy led by Major General Tran Anh Vu, Deputy Director of the People's Security Academy, participated in an international seminar on the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) at the headquarters of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).
The working trip promotes research, experience sharing and international cooperation to implement the National Action Program on Women, Peace and Security for the period 2024-2030.
The event was co-organized by Vietnam and UN Women, with the sponsorship of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Police Officers (ASEANAPOL), bringing together many senior experts from police forces and international organizations, as well as female peacekeepers in several conflict areas.

Speaking at the opening of the discussion, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, affirmed Vietnam's importance to the agenda on women, peace and security, saying that the adoption of the first National Action Programme on WPS for the 2024-2030 period marks an important step forward for Vietnam in promoting gender equality in the field of peace and security at the national, regional and international levels.
Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang emphasized that Vietnam is one of the pioneering countries supporting the United Nations' efforts to promote gender equality and enhance the role and participation of women in peacekeeping missions.
Since 2014, Vietnam has sent more than 1,000 military and police officers to participate in peacekeeping operations around the world, of which 16% are women - significantly higher than the UN average, the Ambassador said.
In particular, Vietnamese female peacekeepers have promoted their ability to connect communities, contributing to building and strengthening trust between parties in conflicts and indigenous communities with the United Nations peacekeeping force; effectively supporting victims of gender-based violence, thereby actively contributing to efforts to resolve conflicts and build peace in a sustainable manner.
