Vietnam wins first gold medal at 2023 World Wushu Championship

Dang Tran Phuong Nhi represented the Vietnamese Wushu team in the male stick performance event. With her impressive performance, the Vietnamese female martial artist impressed the judges.

Phuong Nhi received the highest score and won the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation. Second place went to He Jianxin (Hong Kong - China) and third place went to Tan Cheong Ming (Malaysia).

Previously, Phuong Nhi won a silver medal in the male sword performance category and finished behind the Chinese martial artist. With 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal, Phuong Nhi helped Vietnam Wushu temporarily rank 6th on the medal table at this year's tournament.

The 2023 World Wushu Championships will take place in the United States from November 17 to November 20. The tournament will bring together 500 athletes from 72 countries and territories.

The Vietnamese Wushu team participated in this year's world tournament with 13 martial artists including Duong Thuy Vi, Nguyen Thi Lan, Phuong Nga, Kieu Trang, Phuong Giang, Thu Thuy, Phuong Nhi, Manh Cuong, Duy Hai, Huy Hoang, Do Dat, Van Tam, Nong Van Huu.
