No airline in Vietnam uses Boeing 737 MAX 9 yet

Regarding the incident of an Alaska Airlines plane window popping open, a representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that currently, no airline in Vietnam operates B737 MAX aircraft (including B737 MAX 9).

Following the Alaska Airlines incident, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is requiring immediate inspections of approximately 171 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft. The FAA has notified aviation authorities of various countries and invited representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to attend an online meeting to inform and update some information about the incident.

In terms of global aviation principles, when the FAA, as the national aviation authority where the B737 MAX 9 aircraft is manufactured, has announced a temporary suspension of operations of this aircraft for inspection, global airlines operating this aircraft must comply. Aviation authorities of countries where the aircraft is registered will take action to inspect.

The leaders of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam have instructed the aviation technical department of the authority to closely monitor the implementation of these technical instructions.

When an incident occurs, the aviation authorities of the country that manufactured the aircraft take timely action, in this case requiring all B737 MAX aircraft to have their door areas inspected before being put into operation. The inspection process will last from 4 to 8 hours for each aircraft, after which the aircraft can operate normally.

Previously, on January 5 (local time), an Alaska Airlines plane had to make an emergency landing in Oregon (USA) after a window and part of the fuselage came off during flight.

FAA online records show the Boeing 737-9 MAX 9 in question received its factory certification two months ago.

On social network X, the FAA said it is requiring immediate inspections of approximately 171 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft before allowing them to fly again. The inspection process will take between 4 and 8 hours for each aircraft. According to the FAA, this decision is to ensure passenger safety.

According to Alaska Airlines, more than a quarter of its Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft have been inspected and no serious problems have been found.

On January 6, two more airlines suspended operations of all of these aircraft. Specifically, United Airlines has temporarily stopped using all Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft for inspection at the request of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Turkish Airlines has also announced that it will ground five of its Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft for inspection. Alaska Airlines and United Airlines currently operate the world's largest MAX 9 fleets. Boeing has so far delivered 218 737 MAX 9 aircraft to airlines around the world.
