Since the Lunar New Year holiday, 154 primary school students in Quang Phuc ward have been taken by their parents to the Tan My satellite school, Quang Phuc Primary School No. 1. However, the students can only stand outside the yard and cannot enter the classroom, because this school has been closed and transferred to the main school about 2km away.

According to parents, traveling more than 2km to the main school to study will be very difficult for most students in Tan My. Because most young couples here go far away to work, leaving their children with their grandparents to take care of, now having to travel far, many families do not have the conditions.
“I have already given my opinion in meetings about moving my children to the main school. The school is degraded and needs to be repaired and upgraded. I am old and have to raise two grandchildren while my parents have to work for hire. Now I cannot ride a bicycle or motorbike to take my grandchildren to school, so I want to reopen the school for my children and grandchildren to study and then repair it later,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Nghia (68 years old).
Teacher Phan Tien Lam, Principal of Quang Phuc Primary School No. 1, said: According to the direction of Ba Don town and Quang Phuc ward, Tan My satellite school with 6 classes and 154 students must close in January 2025, due to not ensuring safety for teaching and learning activities.
The school has held 3 meetings to mobilize parents and prepare 6 fully equipped classrooms to welcome children to school. However, since February 3rd, parents have not brought their children to study at the main school.

Vice Chairman of Ba Don Town People's Committee Nguyen Van Tinh added: According to the report on October 4, 2024 of the Inspection Center of Quang Binh Department of Construction: The load-bearing capacity of a structural part of the 5-room classroom block and the 2-room classroom block at Tan My satellite school cannot meet the requirements for normal use, and a locally dangerous situation appears.
“The town is currently balancing funds to rebuild this school because it cannot be repaired, but the time may last a whole year. Therefore, to ensure the safety of students and teachers, we hope that people will temporarily send their children to study at the main school,” Mr. Tinh said.
