Every year, the company has 10-15 initiatives and technical improvements in the following areas: Management and operation; mechanical and electrical engineering improvements; flexible and reasonable labor arrangement; human resource planning and training; of which 4 initiatives have been recognized and classified as A by the Provincial Science and Technology Council: "Research and organize the implementation of comprehensive measures to save electricity at irrigation pumping stations in Song Chu Company"; "Research, develop and apply a contract solution in the management and exploitation of irrigation works to improve production and business efficiency, ensuring safety of works"; "Some solutions for operating the Cua Dat - Bai Thuong - Song Muc irrigation system to improve the quality and efficiency of irrigation services in Song Chu Company"; "Flexible, safe and effective regulation of flood prevention downstream of Cua Dat reservoir"... The initiatives and technical improvements have been and are being applied, contributing to the company's profits of billions of dong each year.

During the severe heat wave that has been and is taking place, localities and units have proactively implemented irrigation and drought prevention plans to serve crop production. The company has launched a peak competition in the entire system, focusing on the safe operation of the irrigation system, promoting the efficiency of irrigation and drainage for more than 150,000 hectares of crops/year in 16 districts and Thanh Hoa City, Sam Son City. From the company to its affiliated branches, irrigation and drought prevention plans have been developed and effectively implemented for each project and field. Regularly check the current status of irrigation works; promptly handle damage and seepage; reasonably operate water intake gates at reservoirs and take measures to make the most of natural water sources, recycled water, and increase water storage in irrigation systems. Operate additional water sources between related projects and irrigation systems...

The measure of regulating irrigation water alternately was applied from the beginning of the season and maintained throughout the season for the main canals, focusing on areas facing difficulties in irrigation water. For the highland communes and the end of the canal in districts such as Quang Xuong, Nong Cong, Trieu Son, Dong Son, etc., the company has directed the irrigation branches to proactively install additional field pumping stations, oil pumps, and timely water pumps. Assigning forces to take shifts 24/7 to closely follow the works and areas to clear the flow and bring water to the highland areas and fields at the end of the canal that are "thirsty". At this time, people are excited to have enough water to plant the crop in the context of hot weather.

Present at Song Chu Company - Quang Xuong Irrigation Branch, during the hot weather, Director of Quang Xuong Irrigation Branch Cao The Son, shared: Thanks to proactively implementing synchronous solutions, 8,400 hectares of crops, including more than 6,000 hectares of the 2024 crop, are irrigated by the branch, especially the highland communes at the end of the canal, have had enough water for planting and care.

In order to achieve the goal of not allowing drought and lack of irrigation water in the fields, Song Chu Company has prioritized regulating water sources for the end of Quang Xuong canal. Quang Xuong Irrigation Branch has maintained, repaired, dredged irrigation canals, culverts, dams, and maintained pumping stations to improve production capacity. Quang Xuong Irrigation Branch has dredged a number of canal shafts of pumping stations, dredged the canal system, and removed trash to clear the flow to store water to fight drought with a total volume of nearly 10,000m3 of mud and soil dug up. Launched a competition to mobilize 100% of cadres, engineers, and workers to the base to coordinate with local authorities to focus on the peak period of alternating water supply to the fields of some communes at the end of the canal, highland areas with difficult irrigation... Arranged workers to take turns at Mai Chu port (Quang Yen commune) to regulate fresh water from Hoang river to Ly river (due to low water level of Ly river) to create water sources for pumping stations along Ly river to operate. 37 irrigation pumping stations have been operating to pump water from the Guangzhou River, the Yellow River, and the Li River to serve production. The Ngoc Giap, Quang Chau, and Truong Le drainage sluices have been operated and regulated by the Quang Xuong Irrigation Branch to store fresh water for irrigation and drought prevention for crops.

Currently, farmers in the irrigation systems served by Song Chu Company have been provided with enough water to care for nearly 50,000 hectares of well-developed winter-spring rice. In order to recognize the responsibility of the staff and workers of the irrigation branches who have made efforts to overcome difficulties, manage and operate the works safely and effectively, serving agricultural production in harsh weather conditions, intense heat, the leadership of Song Chu Company continues to care for the lives of staff and workers; organize appropriate working plans to ensure the health of staff and workers directly working at the works in hot weather conditions.

Along with implementing the drought prevention plan, Song Chu Company is developing a flood and storm prevention plan for 75 lake and dam projects to submit to competent authorities for approval. The company's flood and storm prevention command has urged and directed its affiliated branches to complete inspection, maintenance, repair, preparation of spare materials and equipment for replacement in case of incidents and trial operation of the project system. 100% of existing projects are safe and proactive in serving production during the rainy and stormy season. Directing branches to coordinate with districts, towns, cities and related communes to deploy emergency response plans for the projects....

However, irrigation and drainage services for agricultural production on the Song Chu irrigation system have been facing some disadvantages. The Cua Dat - Bai Thuong irrigation system is dependent on the power generation schedule of the Cua Dat Hydropower Plant, and at times the water flow into the main canal is unstable. Electric pumping stations in Cam Thuy district are sometimes unable to get water due to their dependence on the power generation schedule of some hydropower plants on the Ma River. Proactively overcoming difficulties, Song Chu Company has installed a number of field pumping stations at Cam Tan 1, Cam Tan 2 pumping stations, etc. to pump water for irrigation of crops.

The work is quiet and hard, but every officer, engineer and worker of Song Chu Company loves their job, is excited and tries their best to serve production like the Chu River diligently deposits alluvium, opens up cool water for successive golden seasons of bumper harvests, contributing to the construction of new rural areas in Thanh Hoa homeland.

With these efforts and struggles, Song Chu Company has always been considered one of the typical examples in the block of enterprises managing and exploiting irrigation works nationwide. On the journey of construction and development, the company has been honored to receive the First, Second and Third Class Labor Medals from the President; the title "Enterprise for Farmers" awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; many Certificates of Merit, Certificates of Merit, emulation flags, and titles from all levels and sectors from the Central to the local level.
