Upgrading and expanding traffic routes, creating a new look for the city

Aiming to synchronize traffic infrastructure and better serve the increasing travel needs of the people, Thanh Hoa City is actively investing in upgrading and expanding streets in the area.

The construction unit is speeding up the progress of the railway overpass project and the roads at both ends of the bridge on the East-West Highway, Phu Son Ward (Thanh Hoa City).

In recent years, Dong Tho ward has mobilized people to donate land and expand traffic routes according to the motto "The State and the People work together". Dang Tien Dong Street passes through Loi 1, Loi 2 and Dam streets with a length of more than 400m, the road is narrow, the widest part is about 3.5m. Many households here build semi-standard houses, so the road is increasingly narrowed and seriously degraded, making it difficult for people to travel. To upgrade and expand Dang Tien Dong Street, in 2024, Dong Tho ward mobilized people to donate nearly 1,000m2 of land to expand the road from 3.5m to 5.5m, and in some sections up to 7m. Thereby, the ward has mobilized more than 100 households to voluntarily dismantle constructions and hand over the land to upgrade and expand the road.

According to Mr. Do Van Trung, Chairman of Dong Tho Ward People's Committee, with the active response of the people, by February 2025, the upgrading and expansion of Dang Tien Dong Street had completed phase 1 with an investment capital of more than 5 billion VND. Currently, the ward is continuing to mobilize people to donate land and dismantle architectural structures to invest in upgrading and expanding Dang Tien Dong Street in phase 2. In addition, the ward has also basically cleared the land to prepare for investment in upgrading and expanding Tho Hac Street from 3m to 5m, with some locations up to 6.5m. In the coming time, the ward will ask for the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa City to upgrade and expand Nguyen Tuan Street and Doi Cung 2 Street.

In recent years, Thanh Hoa City has been actively implementing the upgrading of traffic infrastructure. Many central inner-city roads have been upgraded and expanded, and key traffic intersections have been invested in and expanded, contributing to creating a new look for the city.

In order to attract investment resources to upgrade and expand roads, in April 2022, the People's Council of Thanh Hoa City issued Resolution No. 83/NQ-HDND on the Project "Mobilizing social resources to invest in and upgrade roads, drainage ditches, and sidewalks in Thanh Hoa City, period 2022-2025". In that spirit, over the past 2 years, the City People's Council has approved the investment policy for 15 projects to upgrade and expand roads in 10 wards and communes with a total investment of 194,453 billion VND. Of which, the city budget is 132,218 billion VND; the ward and commune budget is 4,501 billion VND; and socialized resources are 62.97 billion VND. During the implementation process, with the responsible participation of the Party Committee and authorities from the city to the ward and commune levels, along with the consensus and support of the people, the resolution has brought about remarkable results. In particular, in the time of "every inch of land is gold", 834 households in the city donated land and assets on land worth 62.97 billion VND (43.774 billion VND in land value and 19.196 billion VND in assets on land).

In addition to completed projects, construction units are speeding up the progress of traffic infrastructure upgrade projects in the city, such as: Railway overpass and road project at both ends of the East-West Highway; Nam Song Ma Highway, phase 2 from Dong Hai ward to Sam Son city; expansion of Le Loi Avenue, section from Phu Son intersection to Dong bridge, An Hung ward; expansion of East-West Highway from Cao bridge, An Hung ward to Rung Thong ward; upgrading provincial road 502 from Dinh Huong intersection to Ma river dike, Thieu Duong ward... Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, Thanh Hoa city will continue to implement specific goals and tasks to focus on developing an increasingly complete traffic network, serving the travel needs of people, creating landscapes in the city.
