Athletes who won gold medals at ASIAD 19 received full bonus from the Department of Sports and Physical Training

At the end of October 2023, nearly 3 weeks after the Games ended, the leaders of the Department of Physical Training and Sports (DST) said that athletes will soon receive their bonuses within a few days. Although it is called a "quick bonus", the payment must still be made by bank transfer with many complicated procedures.

Therefore, after the announcement from the Department of Sports and Physical Training, it will take another 3 weeks for the money to reach the athletes. The bonuses are an important part of the motivation for athletes to train hard and achieve high results. Due to limited budget funds, industry leaders and departments always strive to increase the bonuses for athletes from sponsors.

Vietnam sports delegation won 3 gold medals at ASIAD 19.

The "hot" bonus money comes from many different sources, the most prominent of which is socialized money. Initially, the "hot" bonus for each gold medal was only 200 million VND. But after efforts to mobilize sponsorship, the bonus was doubled. This number was made public to the athletes before the Vietnamese Sports Delegation left for China to attend the 19th ASIAD.

In addition, the State has a reward level according to regulations for athletes who win medals at the Asian Games. Specifically, the reward for each gold medal is 140 million VND, if the athlete breaks the record of the Games, he will be awarded an additional 55 million VND. The reward for a silver medal is 85 million VND and a bronze medal is 55 million VND.

In addition to the bonuses from the Department of Sports and Physical Training and the State's regime, athletes also receive many other bonuses from member federations, sponsors, national and local sports training centers, etc. A gold medal at ASIAD 19 can help many athletes receive personal bonuses ranging from hundreds of millions of VND to more than 1 billion VND. Some federations and associations have paid bonuses to athletes from socialized sources.

At the 19th ASIAD, the Vietnamese sports delegation completed the target with 3 gold medals from Pham Quang Huy (shooting), the 3-person women's karate team and the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team. In addition, the athletes also won 5 silver medals and 19 bronze medals.
