Provincial People's Committee works with World Bank delegation

On the afternoon of March 7, 2025, at the Provincial People's Committee Headquarters, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Quoc Nam chaired a meeting and worked with the World Bank delegation led by Ms. Maria Angelica Sotomayor - Director of the East Asia - Pacific Water Sector, along with World Bank experts to discuss the results of the Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project - Phan Rang - Thap Cham City Sub-project and the potential for cooperation between Ninh Thuan province and the World Bank in the coming time. Also attending the meeting were leaders of relevant departments, agencies and localities.

At the meeting, Ms. Maria Angelica Sotomayor - Director of the World Bank's Water Sector in the East Asia - Pacific region and members of the Working Group congratulated Ninh Thuan province for successfully implementing the Sustainable Environment Project for Coastal Cities - Phan Rang - Thap Cham City Sub-project, meeting the set goals and progress, despite facing many difficulties and challenges during the implementation process; requested the province to develop a plan for sustainable and effective management, exploitation and use of invested projects, and at the same time review and complete some remaining tasks of the project. Also at the meeting, the Working Group discussed a number of contents related to the proposal for the integrated water environment management project in Ninh Thuan province, borrowing capital from the World Bank.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Quoc Nam - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee was pleased to welcome the delegation to work in the province and sincerely thanked the leaders and experts of the World Bank for accompanying and supporting the province throughout the process of organizing and implementing the Sustainable Environment Project for Coastal Cities - Phan Rang - Thap Cham City Sub-project; he emphasized that the completed project has brought very positive effects to the development of Phan Rang - Thap Cham City in particular and Ninh Thuan Province in general, especially in ensuring environmental sanitation and improving the urban appearance; at the same time, he committed to directing relevant authorities to focus on implementing and completing some remaining activities of the project in accordance with regulations. Regarding the proposal for the integrated water environment management project in Ninh Thuan province, borrowing capital from the World Bank, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that the World Bank will continue to support, care for and endorse the province's proposal to ensure water security, serving the socio-economic development requirements of the province in the immediate and long-term periods./.
