Organized by Asia's leading financial magazine, the Asian Banking and Finance (ABF) award honors financial institutions and banks with solutions and products that have made a mark in the industry and brought positive results to customers.
Meeting all of these criteria, at the ABF 2024 Awards Ceremony, UOB Vietnam surpassed many nominations to win two important awards: “International Retail Bank of the Year” and “Innovative Service of the Year”. This is a positive recognition from financial experts as well as the community for a long journey of serving customers, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development - the mission that UOB has been aiming for since the first days of entering the Vietnamese market.
Breakthrough market share and improve customer experience
In 2023, UOB completed the acquisition of Citigroup's retail division - a turning point that helped the bank significantly expand its scale of operations and market share in Vietnam. UOB gradually became a comprehensive retail bank, meeting the needs of all customer segments with a diverse portfolio of products and services, including: credit cards, consumer loans, mortgage loans, opening payment accounts, savings deposits, insurance and investment...
Not stopping at simple financial solutions, UOB also satisfies customers by enhancing personalized customer service, continuously improving product features, of which the GetBanker application is a typical example.
Last year, UOB upgraded the GetBanker app to simplify the process, shortening the registration time from 24 hours to 1 minute and implementing many new features such as application progress tracking, interactive games to accumulate points and redeem gifts... This allows UOB's broker partners to quickly introduce individual customers with mortgage loan needs to the bank.
From the data collected through analyzing customers' changing needs and preferences, the bank also designs privileges and incentives that suit their lifestyle, especially in the fields of entertainment and cross-border travel.
Specifically, UOB has become the exclusive ticketing partner for many large-scale, international entertainment events in ASEAN. Thanks to this, UOB credit/debit cardholders can easily own early tickets to attend performances by international stars such as Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran in 2023. Along with that, customers also receive customized offers in the UOB Travel package with a carefully selected list of hotels to stay near the concert venue.
The early bird tickets were sold out in record time, resulting in a large increase in new cardholders and a significant increase in the usage of UOB credit/debit cards, demonstrating the attractiveness of the privileges and affirming UOB’s vision of exploring potential areas.
Sustainable business, innovation for social progress
In parallel with its economic goals, UOB also actively participates in corporate social responsibility initiatives, demonstrating its commitment to doing the right thing for the local community. UOB’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes focus on education, children, arts and the environment with notable programmes such as the annual fundraising run “UOB Heartbeat Run”, the annual art competition “UOB Painting of the Year” to discover and nurture painting talents, promote Vietnamese fine arts, forest planting campaigns or recently the “Green Action, Green Future” programme - a campaign that encourages customers to join hands to contribute to the environment through loans and transactions with the bank.
After a long journey with many milestones, UOB is still striving to become the leading foreign bank in Vietnam. Regarding the upcoming direction, Mr. Paul Kim - Director of Personal Financial Services, UOB Vietnam affirmed that the bank will continue to accompany many international entertainment events and bring exclusive incentives to attract more new customers, while promoting spending in areas such as entertainment, travel, shopping and dining...
“We are planning to establish global partnerships in the entertainment industry every year. In the next half year, UOB will not only limit its pre-sale privileges to concerts by US-UK artists, but also C-pop and K-pop artists such as Andy Lau, Stray Kids and Zerobaseone,” said a UOB representative.
