HAGL LOST AGAIN
On the evening of March 2, HAGL traveled to Thong Nhat Stadium of Ho Chi Minh City Club with the goal of winning at least 1 point to avoid falling further down the rankings. Relegation rivals such as Hai Phong and SLNA both won or drew in round 15, making HAGL's position even more precarious. If they lose to the equally miserable Ho Chi Minh City Club, coach Le Quang Trai and his team will be surpassed by their opponents, meaning they will fall to 10th place.
HAGL Club (middle) sank to 10th place
To be fair, HAGL played hard at Thong Nhat Stadium. Minh Vuong and his teammates played an open game to find a goal. However, they kept the ball and shot a lot but could not score, meaning they were at risk of paying the price. Ho Chi Minh City Club did not overwhelm HAGL. However, Phung Thanh Phuong's students took full advantage of the opportunities they had. Tran Manh Cuong's high jump to score a goal from a corner kick in the 9th minute was a typical moment for Ho Chi Minh City Club in this match: it did not need to be beautiful, the important thing was efficiency. The Thong Nhat Stadium team only needed to be superior for a moment to decide HAGL's fate.
Because in this season, HAGL always lost when they were behind (the mountain town team also drew and lost a lot when they were ahead). Technical director Vu Tien Thanh created a style of play that was both pragmatic and physical, helping HAGL become a good counter-attacking team in the early stages. However, the quality of HAGL players was not good enough to play an imposing attack.
Therefore, every time they are behind and have to attack, the mountain town team often falls into a deadlock. The 90 minutes at Thong Nhat Stadium on the evening of March 2 were no exception, when HAGL attacked blandly and monotonously. Just like the draws and losses in the past 2 months, Mr. Le Quang Trai's students only depend on a few individuals such as Marciel dos Santos, Chau Ngoc Quang or Minh Vuong. When an individual is caught, HAGL almost accepts defeat.
In the gloomy picture of HAGL at Thong Nhat Stadium, Minh Vuong became the lone bright spot. The 30-year-old midfielder tried his best in what could be his last match at HAGL. The captain midfielder of the mountain town team received an offer from a first-class club, and he will wait until round 15 to decide his future. If one of the few remaining good players also leaves HAGL, the relegation path of the Pleiku team will be more difficult.
HAGL has only won 2 of the last 13 matches in the 2024 - 2025 V-League. In the past 8 matches, HAGL has only earned more points than Binh Dinh. The gap with the relegation zone is only 4 points. Remember that in the next 5 rounds, HAGL will have to face Thanh Hoa, Binh Duong, Hanoi Police, Ha Tinh and Hai Phong, who are in explosive form. With a much tougher schedule than other teams in the lower group, the risk of relegation is threatening HAGL.
TEACHER NHAT "COOL HAND"
Hanoi FC defeated bottom-placed Da Nang 3-2 in round 15 to rise to second place. After a period of crisis in the first leg, the capital representative has made a strong comeback by winning 3 out of the last 4 matches, only 4 points behind the top-placed Nam Dinh.

The capital team's recovery comes from many reasons. First of all, coach Makoto Teguramori, with his scientific coaching style, tactical changes and clever adjustments to the playing style, has helped Hanoi FC become more unpredictable. Van Quyet and his teammates neutralized the "fortress" Pleiku with an overwhelming game, then came back to defeat the Da Nang team, which was in good form. Although the attacking style of play with smooth passes has not returned, what Hanoi FC needs now is to find its rhythm again. In addition, the improved quality of foreign players (Daniel Passira, Joao Pedro and Luka Bobicanec all made significant contributions) has also helped Hanoi FC progress, avoiding the situation where domestic players carry foreign players.
When inspiration returns, Hanoi FC is still a strong candidate for the championship. Van Quyet and his teammates have the spirit of a team that has won the V-League 6 times. In the 2016 and 2022 seasons, Hanoi FC were crowned thanks to impressive accelerations in the second leg. Will history repeat itself in the 2024 - 2025 V-League?
