Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on March 2 that his country could use its friendly relationship with Washington to persuade the US to support Ukraine more strongly.

AFP news agency reported that before entering the summit of European leaders in London (UK) on March 2, Prime Minister Tusk called the US stance on Ukraine a "deadlock" and said "we must overcome this deadlock".
Mr. Tusk made this statement after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a "war of words" with his US counterpart Donald Trump during a meeting at the White House on February 28, causing Washington-Kiev relations to almost collapse.
This huge contradiction also raises doubts about the future of US support for conflict-ridden Ukraine.
According to Prime Minister Tursk, Poland is in a "special situation" and will be listened to more by the US thanks to its high defense spending and very good relations with Washington.
“Poland stands by Ukraine without any ‘buts’… The Washington administration’s position is not as clear as ours on the Ukraine-Russia issue,” he said.
He also called on European countries to help Poland and the Baltic states strengthen border security with Russia and Belarus, including by sending troops.
The head of the Polish government also affirmed his support for Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's proposal to hold a US-Europe summit to discuss "how to deal with today's major challenges, starting with the Ukraine issue".
Amid Western disagreements over Ukraine, Italy's prime minister warned that any division could weaken the Western alliance.
