(TN&MT) - On November 19, in Hanoi, Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment (TN&MT) held the Opening Ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year and the 42nd Anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa; Mr. Pham Tan Tuyen - Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel; Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu - Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and representatives of units under the Ministry. On the side of the University, there were Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Anh Huy - Rector of Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment; Prof. Dr. Huynh Thi Lan Huong - Chairwoman of the University Council; Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thi Trinh and Dr. Vu Danh Tuyen - Vice Rector of the University together with former Rector, Vice Rector, teachers and students of Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa stated that Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment is one of the training institutions of the Ministry, with the mission of: Training high-quality human resources, creating qualified human resources in the field of natural resources and environment to serve the country's sustainable development.
Over the years, teachers, staff, employees and students have made great efforts, overcome all difficulties to rise up, strive to continuously develop the School and have achieved remarkable results when the School has strongly innovated the work of building a team with 531 lecturers, including 370 staff with Master's degrees, 130 PhDs, 12 Associate Professors and 1 Professor. In 2024, the School was recognized by the State Council of Professors: 1 Professor and 4 Associate Professors.
Basically, the staff and lecturers of the School have met the requirements of training tasks, and currently the School has 23 undergraduate majors, 6 master's majors, with a scale of 15,000 students and postgraduates; The scientific research activities of the School have achieved some outstanding achievements, the quantity and quality of scientific research projects and topics each year have increased compared to the previous year. The number of lecturers with scientific research works published in prestigious domestic and international scientific journals increases every year.
The Deputy Minister highly appreciated and commended the efforts and contributions of the staff and lecturers of the School in the work of educational accreditation and ensuring the quality of education of the School. In 2023, the School was granted a certificate of standardization (cycle 2) and was assessed by the International University Quality Benchmarking System with a quality rating of 4/5 stars.
In order to strive to become a key university in training and providing quality human resources by 2030, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa suggested that the University should continue to innovate and build a development strategy with a long-term vision, meeting the training needs of the natural resources and environment sector, as well as the needs of society.
An important task is to continue to pay attention to building and developing the team of lecturers and educational managers in the direction of standardization, ensuring sufficient quantity, synchronous structure, and improving quality; paying attention to building training programs, documents, and textbooks; gradually modernizing facilities and teaching conditions, focusing on upgrading the system of libraries, laboratories, practice rooms, lecture halls, dormitories, and physical education areas for students.
At the same time, it is necessary to implement comprehensive education, innovate teaching and learning methods, strengthen scientific and technological research activities associated with training; form strong research groups, strengthen international cooperation with prestigious research and educational institutions in the world; proactively coordinate with production establishments, enterprises and organizations to participate in the training process, closely link training with social practice and human resource use; regularly update and grasp new research and training directions in the field of natural resources and environment; innovate training organization and management methods towards enhancing autonomy and self-responsibility to improve the effectiveness, training quality and responsibility of training institutions towards society.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Huy - Rector of Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment said that the process of building and developing Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment has affirmed that the teaching staff is the force that determines the quality of education, training and the position and prestige of the University. In recent times, the University has focused on building a team of cadres and lecturers in the direction of transforming from a subsidized management mechanism to university autonomy, self-responsibility for society, focusing on knowledge economy, digital economy, reducing human activities based on natural resources...
With that political responsibility, the staff and lecturers of the School have proactively overcome difficulties, raised the sense of self-reliance, promoted intelligence, talent and enthusiasm in teaching and scientific research, and successfully completed assigned tasks, through: Researching, discovering, advising, proposing innovations in training content and programs that are up-to-date and closely related to reality; changing teaching methods with many innovations, stimulating the positivity and creativity of learners.
Accordingly, the School has recorded positive results with the enrollment period for the 2024-2025 regular course, ensuring the set target. Of which, there are nearly 3,400 students for 23 university majors, out of a total of more than 60,000 candidates registered for the school. The benchmark scores of many majors of the school have risen to the top of the country's leading schools, such as Land Management, Environment, Geodetic and Mapping Engineering, etc.
It can be seen that the 2024-2025 school year is a very special year, aiming to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the school's establishment and development. Successfully implementing the goals and tasks of the school year will create momentum for the school's development in the following years, and is the basis for striving to become a prestigious university in training, scientific research and technology transfer in the field of natural resources and environment.
In the new development stage, the stage of university autonomy, Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment is determined to: Promote activities of accreditation and assessment of teaching and learning quality; attract students with training quality, dynamic and serious working and learning environment.
