Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School in Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City , is the second school to enroll 6th graders using an aptitude test, after Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School.
According to the enrollment plan for the first level announced by the People's Committee of Thu Duc City on May 19, Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School enrolls 6th grade students through the form of selection, testing, and assessment of capacity. This is the first year the school enrolls students in this form.
Previously, in Ho Chi Minh City, only Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted was allowed to enroll 6th graders through an aptitude test. The remaining public schools accepted students based on their residential area.
Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted will use the same aptitude test. The expected test date is July 4.
Ms. Trinh Thi Bich Hang, Principal of Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School, said that it is expected to recruit 280 sixth grade students, divided into 8 classes. The specific exam and admission plan will be announced later.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the 6th grade entrance exam consists of two parts: multiple choice and essay, with a duration of 90 minutes. The multiple choice part consists of 20 English questions, testing knowledge of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and common sense of life with a total of 40 points.
The essay section is worth 60 points and includes three topics: English, Math logical thinking, and Reading - Comprehension - Writing skills. The English test will include Listening - Comprehension questions to comprehensively assess students' abilities.
Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School is one of 46 public schools in the model of advanced, internationally integrated schools. These schools must have at least 80% of teachers who are good at teaching at the school level, 30% who are good at teaching at the district level. All teachers can communicate in English, and foreign language teachers must have a level two levels higher than the general level. The Department's requirement is that at least 90% of graduating students must have an English level of A2 (level 2 in the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework) or higher.
The school collects three main fees including tuition fees according to city regulations; fees according to the advanced model of 1.5 million VND per month; and other agreed fees (boarding, shuttle bus).
