On December 15, Mr. Huynh Tan Tuan - Principal of Quang Nam Medical College said that in the morning of the same day, the school leaders had a meeting with the workers who sent a notice of collective work stoppage.
According to Mr. Tuan, at the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed that the staff and lecturers will continue to work until December 31.
According to Mr. Tuan, at the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed that the staff and lecturers will continue to work until December 31.
Regarding the debt of more than 5.7 billion VND in salaries of 114 cadres and lecturers, Mr. Tuan stated the reason was because the unit's budget estimate at the beginning of the year was unreasonable, and the Provincial People's Committee assigned an average student quota.
"Specifically, the estimated budget for the whole year at the school is 8.5 billion VND, and the revenue from nearly 500 students is 3 billion VND. After deducting the estimated 3.8 billion VND, the remaining amount is not enough to cover salary expenses.
On December 12, the school worked with the Provincial People's Committee and other levels to propose a solution to temporarily postpone the deduction of the school's annual budget in 2023 and the period 2023 - 2025," said Mr. Tuan.
As reported by VTC News, yesterday (December 14), 17 staff and lecturers working at the Nursing Department and the Basic Health Department of Quang Nam Medical College announced that they would stop working from December 18.
The reason for the collective decision to stop working is because the school has not paid their salaries and allowances for 6 months (from July 2023 to present). The Nursing and Basic Health departments met and agreed to stop working until the school resolved the salary and allowance regime.
It is known that in the Nursing Department alone, the suspension of teaching activities will affect 6 classes: D17A, D17B, D18A, D18B, Y26, D6S. The affected courses are Endocrine Movement, Psychology - Communication Skills, Practice at School, and Internship at Quang Nam General Hospital.
114 staff and lecturers of Quang Nam Medical College are owed salaries.
Not only the staff and lecturers of the Nursing and Basic Health Departments, Quang Nam Medical College currently owes 6 months of salary to 114 employees, totaling more than 5.7 billion VND. In addition to salary arrears, the school has also been late in paying insurance for many months.
Regarding the activities of Quang Nam Medical College, recently, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province requested this school to report, explain and review the collective and individual responsibilities related to the direction of activities and allowing the prolonged shortcomings to occur, causing public outrage.
