Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) Nguyen Ngoc Ha said that the 2025 high school graduation exam has many new points.
Regarding the exam, the exam content closely follows the content of the current General Education Program for high school level, mainly the 12th grade program. The thinking level is 40% knowledge level, 30% understanding level and 30% application level.
To enhance the connection and application of knowledge and skills with reality, especially with differentiated content to properly assess students' abilities. These new points require teachers to strengthen guidance for students to read and study on their own.
Compared to last year, the formula for high school graduation this year has changed. Accordingly, the graduation score is only 50% of the high school graduation exam score, the remaining 50% is calculated from the 3-year high school study process. This change is consistent with the 2018 General Education Program with a focus on developing the learner's capacity and qualities, and many of the students' capacities and qualities are developed during the learning process.
The 2025 high school graduation exam will only be held in 3 sessions, and the third session will include both elective subjects. To facilitate the organization, candidates will be placed in a single exam room during the exam sessions and will not have to move around. The exam papers will be collected by room without being classified by subject.
Each room still holds 24 candidates and a room can accommodate up to 5 subjects. To ensure security, instead of only 24 exam codes for 24 students in a room like before, this year's exam increased the number of exam codes to 48 for the 2 time frames of the 3rd exam session.
In addition, this year, the exam will be held simultaneously for students taking the 2006 General Education Program (students who have not graduated, or who take the exam to get university admission scores) and students taking the 2018 General Education Program. Therefore, to avoid mistakes, localities will arrange a number of separate exam sites for students taking the 2006 Program.
Regarding the organization of mock high school graduation exams that localities are actively implementing, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management Nguyen Ngoc Ha said that this has a very positive effect. The Ministry of Education and Training will support the exam marking software, send staff and experts to provide technical support, and answer questions about the marking process to ensure compliance with the regulations of the Examination Regulations.
Summarizing some situations that occurred during the exam organization, such as: printing errors discovered only when the exam papers were opened; students and teachers wrote the wrong information on multiple-choice answer sheets and exam papers; traffic jams; power outages in the exam area, etc., Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha requested that localities and units proactively develop scenarios to respond to unexpected situations, ensuring the exam takes place safely and in accordance with regulations.
