(Dan Tri) - On the evening of December 1, many parents of "Rosemont American International Kindergarten" Long Bien campus received text messages from teachers announcing temporary leave because the school owed them salaries.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Tra (Long Bien, Hanoi) has a child studying at "Rosemont American International Kindergarten", located at 27-29 Nguyen Lam Street, Phuc Dong Ward, Long Bien District.
Tra's child has been studying here for just over a month.
On the evening of December 1, Ms. Tra suddenly received a notice of resignation from her child's teacher on the Zalo group.
The notice stated that because the school had promised to pay teachers 5 times but failed to do so, all teachers would be temporarily suspended from work.
"The teacher also added a school leader to the class. This incident shocked us. Because the tuition fee was paid in full for 6 months to 1 year to the school, we don't understand why the school did not pay the teachers," Ms. Tra shared.
After this announcement, Ms. Ha's child and other children studying at school had to stay home from the morning of December 2.
"We had no choice but to quit our jobs," said an anonymous teacher.
According to the female teacher, this salary delay has lasted for 3 weeks, and the school has made many promises but has not kept them, causing the teachers to lose confidence.
Also on the morning of December 2, Ms. Ta Thi Phuong Mai - introduced as an authorized representative of Rosemont International Cooperation Joint Stock Company - worked with parents. Ms. Mai confirmed the information that the school owed salaries and apologized to parents for the incident that caused children to miss school.
Ms. Mai said that the reason the school owes salaries is because the old owner "held" 5-7 billion VND in tuition fees that parents paid before March. Therefore, the new owner is having difficulty with revenue when the number of new students enrolling is not large.
In the meeting minutes, Ms. Mai pledged that the school would pay all teachers' salaries by the evening of December 2 to ensure that children would return to school on the morning of December 3.
In case the teacher does not return to work, the school will transfer teachers from other facilities or recruit new teachers to ensure child care.
However, by the time of the salary payment, teachers at the Long Bien facility still had not received any of the promised money.
At 9:39 p.m. the same day, the school sent a letter to parents announcing the temporary suspension of operations.
"The reason for this change is due to some unplanned issues that the school needs time to adjust and resolve. This means that students will not be able to go to school on December 3.
We pledge to do our best to pay and resolve the related issues and ensure that all school operations return to normal immediately," the notice said.
Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Dao Thi Hoa - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Long Bien district - said that the department had known about the incident since last night and had gone to the People's Committee of Phuc Dong ward to work this morning.
Ms. Hoa said that "Rosemont American International Kindergarten" is not an international school but just an independent group of children, with a size of 35 students.
This independent preschool is officially called Rose Mountain Preschool.
"Initial verification shows that the matter of unpaid wages for teachers at the preschool is correct. The ward People's Committee is working with the facility owner to find a solution to ensure the rights of teachers and the learning environment for students. If there are any violations during the operation, they will be strictly handled," said Ms. Hoa.
On the fanpage and communication and advertising materials as well as addressing parents and students of Nui Hoa Hong Kindergarten, the commonly used name is "Rosemont American International Kindergarten".
Ms. Tra said that in Phuc Dong ward, the school is well-rated. Ms. Tra also consulted many other information channels before deciding to let her child study here.
"I highly appreciate the school's educational program and the quality of the teaching staff. For over a month, my child has been going to school happily and excited about learning. The English teacher is a foreigner.
Therefore, except for the fact that the school owes salaries and causes teachers to quit teaching, I have no comments about the quality of child care at the school," Ms. Tra shared.
Ms. Tra also revealed that the school's tuition fee is about 8 million VND/month, including meals and other services. Ms. Tra pays the tuition fee for 6 months at once, a total of about 57 million VND.
