Steam locomotives over 50 years old, which participated in the war against America, will be displayed at Nhan garden (Long Bien) from November 17 to December 31.
Coming to the Steam Locomotive Exhibition at Nhan Garden, visitors will have a look back at one of the symbols of the railway industry.
In 1965, steam locomotive number 141-179 was one of three steam locomotives of the Mikado series researched, designed and manufactured by engineers of Gia Lam Locomotive Enterprise, with the support of Chinese locomotive engineers.
Later, about 50 of these locomotives, named Tu Luc, were produced to serve the needs of transporting goods in the North. During the years of the war against America, the trains "competed" to transport goods, weapons, and food to support the battlefield in the South.

Locomotive number 141 - 179 is being kept by Gia Lam Railway Factory, has been placed as a locomotive monument at Vinh Station Square and is expected to be brought to Hanoi Museum at the end of this year. Currently, there are only about 2-3 of this type of locomotive left in our country.
The locomotive is designed to run on a 1m track, about 19m long (including the coal car) or 11.5m long (excluding the coal car); 2.75m wide, 3.8m high, weighing about 100 tons (with coal and water).
To date, this locomotive is no longer exploited and used in railway transport, however the artifact has great historical and cultural value, demonstrating the development of the railway industry after our country gained independence.
The exhibition of locomotives 141 - 179 is one of many activities of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023 taking place from November 17 to December 31, aiming to "open the flow" of heritage, especially industrial heritage, into unique creative spaces.
Gia Lam Railway Factory was also renovated, designing factory and warehouse spaces into art spaces, hosting a series of creative activities.
