The war has been over for many years, but its consequences and lingering echoes are still heavy and lingering in the minds of the Vietnamese people. It has become a tradition that every July, the whole country simultaneously holds activities to pay tribute to heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and families of policy beneficiaries - those who have sacrificed their blood and bones for the peace of the country, for the independence and freedom of the nation.

With the fine tradition and morality of “When drinking water, remember its source”, the work of caring for the families of martyrs, war invalids, sick soldiers, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and people with revolutionary contributions has always been of interest to our Party and State. Thereby, expressing gratitude and admiration for the contributions, sacrifices and great contributions of generations of fathers and brothers who devoted their youth and sacrificed for national independence, freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the People. At the same time, educating the sense of responsibility, civic duty and deep gratitude of all classes of people towards the previous generation.
According to statistics from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa, the whole province currently has 350,377 people with revolutionary contributions, including 4,634 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (64 mothers are still alive); 55,977 martyrs; 860 veteran revolutionaries, 444 pre-uprising cadres, 43,610 war invalids; 15,977 sick soldiers; 15,237 resistance fighters and their children infected with toxic chemicals; 1,169 people with revolutionary contributions; 1,636 resistance fighters imprisoned by the enemy; 210,833 resistance fighters awarded with medals.
Under the leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and the responsible cooperation of all levels, sectors, and enterprises, Thanh Hoa currently has 66,823 people with meritorious services to the revolution and their relatives receiving preferential allowances for people with meritorious services to the revolution; over 99.8% of households of people with meritorious services to the revolution have a standard of living equal to or higher than the average standard of living of the residential community; 100% of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers have been supported and cared for throughout their lives by agencies, departments, sectors, units, organizations, and enterprises inside and outside the province.
The dedication and sacrifice of heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and people with meritorious services to the revolution for the independence and freedom of the nation, for the happiness of the People are invaluable, not only for yesterday and today but also for future generations. Therefore, gratitude and admiration for those dedications, sacrifices and great contributions need to be carried out regularly and continuously, through specific and practical actions, not just the work of July 27, not just the work of an individual or an organization but must be the sacred duty of a country and a nation.
