Thai Nguyen currently has 240 products ranked OCOP from 3 to 5 stars, equal to 200% of the target according to the OCOP product development project for the period 2019-2025 of the province. Of which, 155 products have achieved 3 stars, 83 products have achieved 4 stars and 2 products have achieved 5 stars at the national level.

Among the province's OCOP products, there are 154 tea products (the province's main crop); 41 processed food products (vermicelli, glass noodles, dried meat, pressed oil, spring rolls, etc.); 44 products are spices, beverages, handicrafts, garments, fresh food, raw and pre-processed products; 1 tourism service product.

According to the assessment, each product classified as OCOP has its economic value increased by about 20% or more. However, most of the products are still only consumed in small quantities, lacking connectivity, and not known to many customers.

With the goal of strongly developing OCOP products, recently, the Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant departments and branches of the province to increase the application of information technology in advertising, trade promotion, and selling products on social networking platforms and e-commerce platforms.

The biggest success in 2024 is that the Department of Industry and Trade consulted with the Provincial People's Committee to sign a memorandum of understanding with TikTok Vietnam and Shopee Vietnam Company Limited.

Thai Nguyen's general agricultural products stall on Shopee.

Ms. Bui Thi Hai Yen, Director of Ban Viet Cooperative, said: In order for domestic and international people to know about Thai Nguyen's common agricultural product stall on Shopee e-commerce platform, every day, at 12:00 and 20:00, we organize livestream sales on Facebook platforms, then transfer customers to Shopee platform. Each session lasts for 1.5 hours, we introduce 4-5 agricultural products of Thai Nguyen for buyers to grasp, follow, and add to their shopping cart. From April 1, the stall officially opened for sale, we offer many "Great deals", attractive gifts to customers...

Now, consumers can easily find and buy high-quality agricultural products, typical of Thai Nguyen with just a few simple steps on their smartphones or computers. The booth is a place where hundreds of quintessential and unique agricultural products of cooperatives in the province gather, many of which have been granted OCOP certification from 3 to 5 stars.

Deploying e-commerce street model

The Department of Industry and Trade is assigning the Trade Promotion Center to step up the survey of production and business establishments on Luong Ngoc Quyen Street (Quang Trung Ward and Hoang Van Thu Ward, Thai Nguyen City) to build an e-commerce street model.

The Trade Promotion Center has coordinated with Hoang Van Thu Ward and Quang Trung Ward to survey over 150 production and business establishments on Luong Ngoc Quyen Street, of which 149 establishments have registered to participate in the e-commerce street, opening booths and operating businesses on e-commerce platforms Shopee, TikTok...

The Department of Industry and Trade has also assigned the Trade Promotion Center to be the focal point, coordinating guidance, answering difficulties and problems, and providing advice to units in setting up and operating booths on e-commerce platforms Shopee and TikTok.

Department of Industry and Trade officials surveyed stores on Luong Ngoc Quyen Street (Thai Nguyen City) to build a model of an e-commerce street.

Along with the survey to build the e-commerce street model, the Department of Industry and Trade has sent a document to the People's Committees of districts and cities requesting propaganda and mobilization of enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments in the area to participate in business on e-commerce platforms.

Currently, localities are implementing drastically, mobilizing the active and proactive participation of the entire political system, considering this a key political task of the locality to promote revenue growth from e-commerce and digital economy in the province.

This April, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with TikTok Vietnam to launch the livestream program "OCOP Thai Nguyen Market 2025". This continues to be a concrete step to increase the value of Thai Nguyen's agricultural products through connecting product consumption on e-commerce platforms.

To promote trade and service development, this year, the Department of Industry and Trade has developed a plan to organize the Industry and Trade Fair - OCOP Thai Nguyen 2025; Agricultural Festival, OCOP, craft villages connecting tourism - Thai Nguyen 2025; Program "Promoting colors of agricultural products in the 4.0 period - Thai Nguyen 2025"; Programs to promote and connect the consumption of specialty products (such as Vo Nhai custard apple, Phu Binh hill chicken) and programs to stimulate domestic consumption...

This is the basis for businesses and cooperatives to participate in order to improve the effectiveness of trade promotion, cooperation, supply-demand connection, and expand product distribution channels.
