In the Southern key economic zone

The Spring of Giap Thin 2024 is coming to the homeland of Thuan Nam, bustling with works and projects to open up the vital arteries, creating momentum for the development of the key economic zone in the South of the province. The land converges potentials along with the efforts, solidarity, proactiveness, creativity, and high determination of the entire political system and people, promising to create a new stature for Thuan Nam to develop more in 2024 and the following years.

Comrade Chau Thanh Hai, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee, said: Looking back on the past, especially in 2023 with intertwined advantages, difficulties and challenges; however, under the close leadership and direction of the District Party Committee, the effective and efficient management and administration of all levels of government in the district, and the consensus of all classes of people in the area, Thuan Nam district has achieved important results in the fields of promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, building the Party and an increasingly clean and strong political system. In particular, implementing the Resolution of the 3rd District Party Congress, term 2020-2025 with the goal of turning Thuan Nam into a key economic region in the South of the province, the district has focused on leadership, direction, prioritizing development resources, taking advantage of the help and support of the central government and the province, promoting investment attraction, implementing many breakthrough solutions to develop the economic pillars of the locality.

Accordingly, immediately after the Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 15-NQ/TU on the development of the Southern key economic zone of the province to 2025, with a vision to 2030, the District Party Committee issued programs and plans for implementation. The District Party Committee directed Party committees and authorities at all levels to effectively carry out propaganda and mobilization work to create consensus among the people; compensation, site clearance, appraisal and approval of construction plans under authority, updating of land use plans and plans, and coordination to call for investment were effectively implemented. To date, in the district, 20 renewable energy projects (including 15 solar power projects and 5 wind power projects) have been completed and generating electricity with a total capacity of 1,511MW.

Some projects have been and are being implemented and put into operation in 2023 such as: Ca Na general seaport project phase 1 invested by Trung Nam Construction Investment Joint Stock Company with a total planning area of 85.52 hectares including 2 ports receiving general cargo, container cargo, bulk cargo with a capacity of up to 100,000DWT, total investment of 5,626.9 billion VND, the Investor has completed and qualified to receive domestic and international ships for Wharf 1A from May 2023. In addition, in 2023, key transport infrastructure projects such as: Van Lam - Son Hai road project with a total investment of 372.5 billion VND, length of 13.077km (reaching 85% of the volume) the investor is speeding up the construction progress to complete the project; The project connecting the North-South Expressway with National Highway 1 and Ca Na general seaport with a total investment of 903 billion VND and a length of 14.7km is being invested by the investor and the construction unit focusing on human resources, machinery and equipment to speed up the construction progress; Dam Ca Na Urban Area Project is invested by ACT Holdings Joint Stock Company with a total area of 64.46 hectares and a total investment of about 4,490.85 billion VND. In the coming time, continue to coordinate to call for investment in key projects and implement a number of projects that have investment certificates, expected to start construction in 2024, creating momentum for the construction and development of the Southern key economic region, such as: Royal Ninh Thuan high-class resort; Ca Na Star eco-tourism area; Hieu Thien industrial cluster; Phuoc Minh 1 and Phuoc Minh 2 industrial clusters; Ca Na LNG project phase 1 with a scale of 1,500 MW; Ca Na petroleum depot project; Ca Na industrial park; Phuoc Minh concentrated seafood processing industrial cluster; Dry port project and logistics service center and coastal tourism projects; Water transfer system from Song Than lake to coastal areas and Ca Na industrial park from legal capital sources to ensure water supply needs for key projects in the South, especially water for industrial and tourism development, coastal urban areas...

The above-mentioned projects and works have created favorable conditions for Thuan Nam district to have a new look and new appearance, gradually forming a prosperous economic region at the southern "gateway" of the province. The socio-economic development year after year is better than the previous year; the average income per capita increases by 2-3% per year; the annual poverty rate decreases by 1-2%, currently at 5.6% of the district's total population. Along with the development of industry, renewable energy, agricultural, forestry and fishery production in the district has also been maintained and developed, increasingly applying high technology with the total annual output exceeding 10% over the same period, promoting income for people and contributing to accelerating the progress of new rural construction in the district, bringing Thuan Nam closer and closer to the goal of meeting the standards of a new rural district in 2025.

The Secretary of the District Party Committee acknowledged: The above achievements are an important foundation and belief for the Party Committee, government and people of Thuan Nam to continue to unite and be creative on the path of construction and development, persistently implementing the development perspective, taking advantage of external resources, mobilizing and effectively using internal resources; developing the economy, culture and society in conjunction with strengthening national defense and security, building the Party and the political system increasingly clean and strong. The district's policy is to focus on calling for and attracting investment, promoting digital transformation to serve the construction of e-government, smart cities, building new rural areas in conjunction with promoting administrative reform; taking care of policy families, people with meritorious services, poor households, improving people's income and quality of life; maintaining political security and social order and safety in the area. In the exciting atmosphere of welcoming the new spring, the entire district Party Committee raised its political determination, strived to compete and complete the goals, targets and tasks of 2024, creating a solid foundation to successfully implement the resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term.
