Quang Ninh: Expanding the market for OCOP products through e-commerce

With the strong development of e-commerce, Quang Ninh has quickly applied this platform to promote and consume OCOP products. Promoting the consumption of OCOP products through e-commerce not only helps local businesses connect with domestic consumers but also expands international trade opportunities.

Increase customer reach

Quang Ninh province has achieved remarkable results in implementing the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program through e-commerce. To date, 100% of the province's OCOP products have been put on major e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, Tiki and other online platforms, with the goal of connecting the province's typical products to consumers nationwide and internationally. In total, 560 OCOP products of Quang Ninh participate in e-commerce platforms, of which 393 products meet 3 to 5 star standards.

This digital transformation process not only helps to promote products widely but also improves the quality of management and transactions. In particular, the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh province has closely coordinated with functional agencies to guide and support business households, cooperatives (HTX) and enterprises in building websites, Facebook, email, and participating in online sales platforms. Thanks to that, most OCOP entities in the province have their own online sales channels, expanding the scope of product consumption, increasing the ability to reach potential customers.

One of the typical products put on e-commerce platforms is Dong Rui sea duck eggs from Tien Yen district. With 4-star quality standards and a clear traceability system, this product has become a symbol of OCOP Quang Ninh. After applying sales technology through online platforms, the sales volume of this product has increased significantly, from 12,000 to 15,000 eggs per day. The production unit said that participating in e-commerce platforms and social networks not only helps increase the number of orders but also facilitates transactions and payments.

Quang Ninh province not only focuses on bringing OCOP products to e-commerce platforms but also deploys synchronous solutions to improve product consumption efficiency. The launch of the Quang Ninh OCOP e-commerce platform in August 2023 is an important step forward. This platform allows businesses, cooperatives and production facilities in the province to promote and introduce products directly to consumers.

Along with developing an online sales platform, Quang Ninh has signed cooperation agreements with shipping partners such as GHN Express, Viettel , and VNPT to ensure fast and accurate delivery. In addition, the province has also established links with major domestic e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, and Tiki. At the same time, it has connected with Viettel to integrate electronic payment features via Viettel Pay, making the payment process more convenient for consumers.

Sustainable development for OCOP products through electronic platforms

The development of the Quang Ninh OCOP e-commerce platform has created an effective sales channel, not only helping products reach consumers in the province but also expanding the market outside the province, and even internationally. The success of products such as Ha Long squid rolls, Binh Lieu vermicelli and Quy Hoa golden flower tea is clear evidence of the effectiveness of applying e-commerce in the consumption of OCOP products.

Mr. Hoang Duc Kha, Deputy Director of the Quang Ninh Center for Promotion and Development of Industry and Trade, said that the core goal and foundation for the sustainable development of the Quang Ninh OCOP E-commerce Platform are product quality and diversity in the product portfolio. The Center is continuing to effectively manage the Quang Ninh OCOP E-commerce Platform and integrating it with fairs, trade promotion, exhibitions, etc. Thereby, contributing to further promoting Quang Ninh's OCOP products to people and tourists, enhancing the position of the Quang Ninh OCOP E-commerce Platform, actively contributing to the province's comprehensive digital transformation.

In the future, Quang Ninh province will continue to promote the application of information technology and e-commerce to promote the consumption of OCOP products. According to the plan, by 2025, the province will have 55% of the population participating in online shopping and 50% of modern distribution facilities using non-cash payment methods. On the other hand, Quang Ninh also plans to support businesses, cooperatives, and agricultural production facilities in the province to develop sales management, marketing, logistics platforms and integrate electronic payment solutions.

In addition to developing the Quang Ninh OCOP e-commerce platform, the province also focuses on upgrading e-commerce infrastructure, creating a safe and effective online trading environment. OCOP products will continue to be promoted and consumed not only through domestic e-commerce platforms but also towards international markets through international partners and platforms. Quang Ninh province's e-commerce development policies and strategies not only help OCOP products reach further but also contribute to the province's comprehensive digital transformation, bringing sustainable development opportunities to the local economy .

With the strong development of e-commerce platforms, Quang Ninh will continue to be a bright spot in promoting the consumption of OCOP products through online sales channels, opening a new direction for agricultural products and local specialties to reach international standards.

Quang Ninh province has also proposed synchronous solutions to develop OCOP products, from production, processing to consumption. Developing agricultural raw material areas, promoting product consumption through distribution channels and improving the quality of 4-star and 5-star OCOP products will help increase product value, meeting the strict requirements of domestic and international markets.
