Painting "Future Shell" was chosen as a gift for HANIFF

The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) left many good impressions on the domestic and international film industry. The painting Cover of Future with an environmental message by artist Nguyen Thi Kim Duc was honored to be chosen as a gift for guests attending the Film Festival.

According to the Organizing Committee (OC), the 2024 Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF ) is estimated to have more than 800 guests who are filmmakers, directors, and actors from 52 countries and territories. The festival brings together many famous faces from Vietnam and the world, including actor Baek Sung Hyun - a familiar face to Vietnamese audiences through films such as Stairway to Heaven , Iris 2 , Voice , When She Sleeps ...

From more than 500 registered films, the festival selected 117 feature films and short films to be screened in the festival's film programs. The films with diverse styles and unique, creative expressions created a vibrant, lively, and unique festival.

After 7 times of organization, Hanoi International Film Festival 2024 continues to be a special cultural event, creating opportunities to expand exchanges, cooperation, and learning experiences of Vietnamese filmmakers with directors, producers, and artists from many places around the world, thereby promoting access to advanced filmmaking technology, improving the quality of Vietnamese films to keep up with international trends.

Unlike previous years, in addition to the screening locations of the National Cinema Center, CGV Mipec Cinema Complex, and BHD Pham Ngoc Thach, this year the Organizing Committee also coordinated with the Hanoi Cinema Culture Center to provide free screenings in districts of Hanoi to spread the value and meaning of the Film Festival to a large number of fans.

Along with the film screenings and exchanges with artists and film crews serving the public, within the framework of the Film Festival, there are two professional seminars with the themes "Spotlight on German cinema" and "Developing film production exploiting historical themes and adapted from literary works".

In addition to film screenings and seminars, the project market also contributes to providing high-quality human resources for the Vietnamese film industry. This year, the film industry highly appreciates the increasingly professional organization, creating opportunities for exchange and learning for many artists, especially young people.

One of the highlights that the Organizing Committee paid attention to was choosing the Temple of Literature as the place to hold the event in the series of activities of HANIFF.

At the event, the work Cover of Future by artist Nguyen Thi Kim Duc was selected to be displayed and introduced in this important event. Cover of Future is a famous work with an environmental protection message painted in watercolor on traditional silk, depicting under the gentle light of the early morning sun the rise and rise of trees dyeing the mother earth against the harshness of nature.

On the occasion of Vietnam's organization of the Vesak Festival in 2019, the painting Cover of Future was selected to be displayed at the Buddhist Art Exhibition The Path to Enlightenment at Tam The Temple, Tam Chuc Pagoda (Kim Bang, Ha Nam) and 105 copies were printed, signed by the author Nguyen Thi Kim Duc herself, for the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to choose as gifts for Buddhist churches around the world.

The fact that Cover of Future was once again chosen by the City People's Committee as a gift for guests attending the Film Festival is an honor and pride for artist Nguyen Thi Kim Duc. The artist is a person with many typical social activities such as: donating paintings to hospitals, planting millions of trees in many provinces and cities of Vietnam...

With the desire to spread love for the environment and awaken humanity's solidarity in the face of climate change taking place globally, the artist hopes that Cover of Future will be a meaningful gift for domestic and international guests attending this Film Festival.

Outstanding cinematographic works have a profound impact on people's social life, becoming a part of their memories throughout their lives. In addition to honoring the achievements of the film industry, the Film Festival also hopes to search for and discover themes to bring impressive cinematographic works to a large number of fans.

With the unpredictable changes of the world in recent years, especially the emergence of global phenomena such as epidemics, natural disasters, wars... it is hoped that in the future there will continue to be classic works that awaken humanity, thereby promoting the spirit of solidarity to build and protect the Earth. That is the message, the "mission" that the painting Cover of Future aims for.
