(Dan Tri) - Sup rowing, a sea sport activity, is attracting a large number of tourists and young people to participate at Man Thai beach (Son Tra district, Da Nang).
Stand up paddle boarding is a stand up paddle sport that started appearing at Man Thai beach (Son Tra district) in 2019. However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, this sport has not developed strongly. By 2021, the SUP movement has returned and is still operating strongly today. According to Mr. Tran Xuan Loc (35 years old), owner of a sup rental shop at Man Thai beach, this whole area has about 100-200 sups operating every day. Especially, during the peak of the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the number of active sups was up to 400-500. Sup rowing usually takes place from 5am and ends at 7am, the ideal time to watch the sunrise, attracting a large number of tourists, especially young people to experience. Therefore, before departure, visitors will be instructed on basic skills and required to wear life jackets to ensure safety. A popular destination for sup paddling is Hon Sup, about 1-2km from shore, where visitors can swim and watch the sunrise. Summer is the most active time for this sport, when the weather is hot, many people choose to paddle sup both to experience and to cool off. According to Mr. Loc, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches allows this sport to operate from March to August. "During this period, there are usually no storms, the weather is stable, there is no rain or whirlwind, creating favorable and safe conditions for SUP rowing," Mr. Loc explained. Man Thai beach was chosen as the SUP rowing location because it is located right on the strait, leaning against Son Tra mountain, less affected by waves and wind. Throughout the journey, the staff of the SUP rental team always monitor and accompany tourists, ensuring safety. The training staff all have international rescue certificates, increasing the peace of mind for tourists. Many young people participate in this water sport (Photo: Viet Hang). To ensure safety, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches regularly arranges forces and vehicles to patrol and remind players as well as sup businesses. Nguyen Hoang Phuc Hoa (28 years old) shared: "This is the first time I have participated in this activity. At first, I was a bit scared, but once I got used to it, I felt very comfortable. Especially when I anchored the sup near Hon Sup and lay down to watch the sea, I felt very beautiful".
