Accordingly, after completing the first phase of upgrading and expanding with a total investment of 217.5 billion VND, Tho Quang fishing port and wharf are being dredged and upgraded with a second phase of expanding with a total investment of 250 billion VND.
The project will be implemented from the beginning of 2024, with the Da Nang Agricultural and Rural Development Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor and operator, with an implementation period of 4 years.
Phase 2 of the Tho Quang fishing port upgrade and expansion project will connect berths 1 and 3 with berth 2 and the new berth built during the project phase.
At the same time, upgrade and renovate Tho Quang seafood wholesale market, build an additional wastewater treatment plant of 400m3 /day and night, upgrade internal roads and rainwater collection and drainage systems and some other auxiliary items.
Once completed, the project will help improve the capacity, performance and efficiency of fishing port operations, meeting the criteria of a type 1 fishing port combined with a regional storm shelter and synchronizing fishing logistics services.
It is expected that this fishing port can receive 300 ships with a maximum capacity of 2,000 CV each day, with cargo throughput reaching 100,000 tons/year.
According to the Da Nang Statistics Office, in August, the city's seafood output was estimated at more than 3,500 tons, up 17.7% over the previous month and up 14.6% over the same period in 2023.

According to the planning of the fishing port system and storm shelters for fishing vessels in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the fishing port in Da Nang will be one of the 5 largest fishing centers in the country.
Currently, Tho Quang seafood wholesale market is being invested in a new 3-storey construction, ensuring smooth business and trading activities. This is also one of 11 markets selected to develop as a tourist market in Da Nang until 2030.
For many years, the area around Tho Quang fishing port and boat lock has been an environmental "hot spot" in Da Nang. Da Nang City has devoted many resources with specific measures to reduce environmental pollution in this area.
Recently, the People's Committee of Da Nang City issued a decision approving the investment policy for the project to renovate and upgrade the drainage system and wastewater collection in the area around Tho Quang boat dock with a total investment of more than 65 billion VND.
The project will be implemented from 2024 to 2026 to ensure a collection rate of 2.5Qtb to Son Tra Wastewater Treatment Plant, limiting wastewater from being discharged directly into Tho Quang fishing port, causing environmental pollution and affecting people's lives.

It is expected that Tho Quang port can receive 300 ships with a maximum capacity of 2,000 CV every day, with cargo volume through the port reaching 100,000 tons/year.
Previously, Phase 1 of the Tho Quang fishing port upgrade and expansion project with a total investment of 217.5 billion VND has built a new wharf with a length of 150m, a width of 9.5m, with a roof covering the entire wharf, ensuring that many fishing boats can directly dock at the same time to unload seafood and receive fuel and food.
In addition, pier No. 2 was extended by more than 80m and has a roof, the water surface behind the pier was leveled to make a concrete yard (wider than 8,000m2) to serve the gathering and transportation of seafood.
