Ho Chi Minh City tightens safety checks on school buses

The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has a document conveying the direction of Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong on strengthening traffic safety for cars transporting students.

Specifically, the Vice Chairman of the City assigned the Department of Transport and the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with relevant units to fully implement the requirements of the Ministry of Transport, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations in transporting students to and from school.

The City Police will preside over and coordinate with the City Department of Transport, Thu Duc City People's Committee, and districts to direct functional forces to strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations in passenger transport activities; pay attention to inspecting and handling violations (if any) with school buses.

The City Police and the City Traffic Safety Committee regularly monitor, urge and request relevant departments and units to continue to effectively implement solutions to ensure traffic order and safety according to the direction of the City People's Committee, and periodically report results.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and cities on strengthening the implementation of traffic safety tasks for school buses to ensure student safety.

Accordingly, the Department of Transport of provinces and cities must have a control plan to ensure there are no passengers on the vehicle.

After finishing a trip or working shift, the driver must check the passenger compartment before leaving the vehicle to make sure no one is still in the vehicle.

The Department of Education and Training of provinces and cities will require all educational institutions (from kindergarten to high school) in the area that use cars to transport students to school to implement procedures and check the number of students when getting on and off the vehicle.

On the bus, there must be someone responsible for managing, checking the student list, maintaining order, hygiene and instructing and reminding students to follow the regulations and safety skills when sitting on the bus and when getting on and off the bus.
