Ho Chi Minh City announces first semester tuition fees for public schools

Collect tuition fees equal to the 2021-2022 school year

Accordingly, in the official dispatch on tuition fees signed and issued by Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc, it is stated: Pursuant to Decree No. 81 of the Government, Official Dispatch No. 5459 of the Ministry of Education and Training on the implementation of fees in the field of education and training for the 2023-2024 school year and considering the proposal of the Department of Education and Training on the policy of organizing the implementation of tuition fees of public educational institutions and special policies to support tuition fees for preschool children, public primary school students, etc., the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directs to unify the policy of temporarily collecting tuition fees for the 2023-2024 school year of public educational institutions in Ho Chi Minh City according to the proposal of the Department of Education and Training in Document No. 6041/TTr-SGDĐT dated October 18, 2023 until the Government issues a Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 81.

The leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that with the agreement on the policy of temporarily collecting tuition fees according to the proposal of the Department of Education and Training, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City agreed to allow public educational institutions to temporarily collect tuition fees for the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year at the same level as the tuition fees for the 2021-2022 school year.

Collect by 2 regional groups

In particular, tuition fees of public educational institutions are applied according to 2 regional groups: Group 1 is students of schools in Thu Duc City, Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan. Group 2 is students of schools in Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be, Can Gio districts.

At the same time, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to deploy and provide specific instructions for educational and training institutions to implement in accordance with regulations.

Regarding the specific policy to support tuition fees for preschool children, public and non-public primary school students and continuing education students in the 2023-2024 school year, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to advise the People's Committee to propose the development of a Resolution to submit to the City People's Council in accordance with the procedures for drafting legal documents.
