Domestic coffee prices today

Domestic coffee prices today, April 1, 2025, in the Central Highlands region increased slightly compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 132,000 - 133,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, traders in Dak Nong province are purchasing coffee at the highest price of 133,000 VND/kg. A slight increase of 700 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Similarly, coffee prices in Dak Lak province are at 133,000 VND/kg, an increase of 700 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Coffee prices in Gia Lai province increased by VND600/kg and were traded at VND132,800/kg.

In Lam Dong province, coffee prices increased by VND800/kg to VND132,000/kg.

According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa), in the first quarter of 2025, coffee exports are estimated to reach about 2.8 billion USD. If current prices are maintained in the following quarters, 2025 could reach a record 8 billion USD in export turnover.

Vicofa said the main reason for the sharp increase in export value was the 73% increase in coffee prices, from $3,228/ton in the first quarter of 2024 to $5,614/ton in the first quarter of 2025. Previously, from 2010 to 2023, Vietnam's average coffee export price was only around $2,000/ton. But since the beginning of 2024, coffee prices have increased continuously and at times increased dramatically.

In 2024, Vietnam will export 1.34 million tons of coffee, reaching a record of 5.62 billion USD. The average export price will also reach a new peak of 4,177 USD/ton, up 59% compared to 2023.

Entering the first quarter of 2025, export prices continued to increase sharply, reaching more than 5,600 USD/ton, with the first half of March alone reaching 5,798 USD/ton. With this momentum, the 6,000 USD/ton mark is likely to be established soon.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market fell sharply on both exchanges:

Robusta Coffee (London):

Delivery in May 2025: Down 21 USD/ton, up to 5,316 USD/ton.

July 2025 delivery: Down 16 USD/ton, up to 5,338 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

May 2025 delivery: Up 0.85 cents/lb, to 380.8 cents/lb.

July 2025 delivery: Up 0.4 cents/lb, to 376.8 cents/lb.

Arabica coffee prices have been fluctuating in a cycle of one week up and one week down in the past five weeks, while Robusta coffee prices have been falling steadily, marking a prolonged decline since falling from last month’s peak.

Both coffees have been on the defensive recently, with arabica prices falling to a one-month low on Thursday and robusta hitting a 2-1/2-month low, largely due to forecasts of rain in Brazil, which have eased concerns about a prolonged drought.

Climatempo forecasts widespread showers in Brazil’s coffee-growing regions next week. Earlier, Somar Meteorologia reported that Minas Gerais, Brazil’s main arabica-growing region, had received 102% more rain than the historical average.

Robusta coffee supplies in Vietnam and Indonesia are currently quite limited. Vietnamese farmers are actively holding onto their stocks, not selling much in the hope that prices will rise further. In Indonesia, supplies are also scarce as it is the end of the harvest season.

Vietnam is now almost the only source of robusta supply, a trader said. Many farmers are financially stable and are reluctant to sell, making purchasing difficult. Although it is the dry season, irrigation water in coffee growing areas is still sufficient to meet demand.
