Toyota is about to launch 3 new electric cars, including an electric pickup truck

Toyota President Akio Toyoda predicts that electric vehicles will never make up more than 30% of the global auto market, no matter how much technology advances. But even if he’s right, millions of customers will still buy electric cars, so why not make Toyotas electric ?

The Japanese automaker is finally making a move to try to get a piece of the electric car pie. It already has three models in Europe: the C-HR+, Urban Cruiser, bZ4X, with three more coming between now and 2026.

At the Kenshiki Forum in Brussels, Belgium, Toyota launched the all-new C-HR+ along with the upgraded bZ4X, the Urban Cruiser. As well as plans to have 6 Toyota electric vehicles in Europe . Although the identity of these future electric vehicles has not been revealed, it is clear that one of them will be a pickup truck.

It is speculated that this is probably the production version of the EPU Concept. This concept pickup truck is set to debut in October 2023 as a 5-seat mid-size pickup truck with a unibody, double cab, length (5,070) mm, width (1,910 mm) and height (1,710 mm).

The new Toyota Hilux Revo BEV is already on sale in select markets, including Thailand, but it’s unlikely to be the pickup truck that will be introduced in Europe. The upcoming model appears to be a double-cab model, while the electric Hilux is a single-cab.

Toyota also showed off an electric pickup truck similar to the Tacoma, but it will be focused on the US market. The mysterious electric pickup truck that was revealed will be sold in Europe, as well as two other electric SUVs.

One of the two SUVs could be the Land Cruiser Se. We first saw the concept in October 2023, and it looks like the production version is getting closer.

Like the Toyota Urban Cruiser and C-HR+ , these three new electric vehicles for Europe will eschew the bZ brand. Toyota has pledged to move away from its “Beyond Zero” naming strategy for its electric vehicles.
