General Secretary works with Da Nang City Party Committee and Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee

On the afternoon of March 29, General Secretary To Lam and the Central working delegation had a working session with the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee on the implementation of the Resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels and the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress as well as the implementation of political tasks of the two localities and some other contents. Attending the working session on the Da Nang City side were Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee; on the Quang Nam Province side were Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.

In recent times, the Da Nang City Party Committee has focused on leading and directing the comprehensive implementation of solutions, making the greatest efforts to fulfill the targets and tasks of the resolutions of Party congresses at all levels and the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. At the same time, the city has also proactively implemented Directive 35 under the direction of the Central Committee; studied and summarized the practical implementation of the direction of the General Secretary on building a model of socialism and socialist people. Implementing Resolution 18, doing a good job of ideological work; implementing support policies, creating high consensus. The city has also had many solutions to implement Resolution 57.

According to the Secretary of the City Party Committee, to ensure the double-digit growth target, Da Nang has also developed specific scenarios and in the first quarter, the economy is estimated to increase by over 11%. Implementing the policy of merging provincial-level administrative units, Da Nang and Quang Nam have agreed to establish a joint steering committee of the two localities for implementation. The city proposed that the Central Government continue to allow the inheritance of the policies and guidelines issued by the Central Government for the new city after the merger. At the same time, it also proposed a number of issues related to the construction of a regional financial center; calling for investment in Lien Chieu port; early investment in a number of projects...

For Quang Nam province, up to now, the locality has also focused on implementing well the goals set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 22nd Provincial Party Congress. The socio-economic development has improved significantly. In the first quarter, it is estimated to increase by 10.3%; the economic scale in 2025 is expected to reach 147 trillion VND; the average income per capita is 96 million VND.

Through the recommendations and proposals of Da Nang city and Quang Nam province, at the working session, leaders of the National Assembly, the Government, and central ministries and branches also discussed and clarified the issues raised by the localities and also oriented some key contents that need to be focused on in the coming time, especially the implementation of the policy of merging provincial-level administrative units and abolishing the district level.

In his concluding remarks at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the results of the two localities in recent times, and also pointed out some potentials, advantages as well as difficulties and challenges for each locality. The General Secretary said that the merger of provincial-level administrative units and the abolition of district-level is a major and strategic policy aimed at achieving many goals.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the role of the commune level will be very important in the coming time; the requirement is to be close to the people, to solve problems related to the people.

The General Secretary emphasized that the common goal is that the new is better than the old, creating a premise for development. The General Secretary requested strengthening the work of building the Party, the political system, and the staff. Further promoting the potential and advantages of both Quang Nam and Da Nang, complementing and supporting each other for development.

The General Secretary also suggested a number of issues for the two localities after the merger, especially the issue of promoting urbanization; positioning the central role in development; promoting economic restructuring; building free trade zones and financial centers; focusing on new development space in a balanced direction, along with a number of other key issues./.
