Xuan Son: 'It's okay, I'm going to eat pho and fried bananas soon'

As Thanh Nien reported, last night, Nguyen Xuan Son underwent surgery lasting nearly 1.5 hours to treat a broken leg injury sustained in the second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final. Professor Tran Trung Dung said the surgery was successful.

He shared: "Basically this is a pretty serious injury: two very large separate fractures, one 3 cm, one 7 cm. We want to help him recover as quickly as possible. Regarding bone injuries, we performed intramedullary nailing, without opening the fracture. Basically, we kept the anatomy, did not dislocate the fracture pieces, and did not need to open the fracture. Therefore, the surgery took longer than normal, about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The surgical process was checked by ultrasound and CT, ensuring the requirements of surgery, correction and fixation. Up to now, the surgery has been successful. On January 7, the patient can practice moving with crutches or a wheelchair. Then, go to the Vinmec Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Department to practice with specialized equipment."

Son will be back soon,” Xuan Son confidently shared.

Coach Vu Hong Viet and Technical Director Nguyen Trung Kien told Son to be careful with his diet. They told him not to eat pho or banana cake to avoid gaining weight. In response, Son humorously replied: "No, pho and banana cake are delicious."
