Bonin did not commit these crimes alone, but with at least four accomplices: Vernon Butts, Gregory Miley, James Munro and William Pugh. On August 5, 1979, Bonin and Butts attacked Markus Grabs, a 17-year-old German student who was traveling in the United States.
