According to the report of the Department of Planning and Investment, the socio-economic situation in April and the first 4 months of 2024 developed in a positive direction with bright economic spots.

Trade, service and transportation activities tend to increase quite well, market prices are stable, supply and demand of essential consumer goods are guaranteed.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached more than 6,000 billion VND, up 10.5% over the same period in 2023.

In the first 4 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and service revenue are estimated at more than 24 trillion VND (up 10% over the same period in 2023).

Tourism activities are bustling, especially during the long holidays (April 30 and May 1). The total number of visitors staying in Quang Nam province in April is estimated at 455 thousand, up 11.7% over the previous month and up 22% over the same period in 2023.

Industrial production activities in April 2024 showed signs of improvement compared to previous months when the textile and garment manufacturing industry had many new orders.

The index of industrial production (IIP) in April 2024 is estimated to increase by 4% over the previous month and by 15.8% over the same period last year (the same period last year decreased by 35.7%).

According to the General Statistics Office, the total state budget revenue in the province from the beginning of the year to April 22 reached more than 6.2 trillion VND (down 13.6% compared to the same period in 2023). According to Mr. Nguyen Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, besides the bright spots, the socio-economic situation of the province still has difficulties, such as budget revenue from hydropower and beer and alcohol decreased; disease situation in livestock; disbursement rate is higher than the same period but lower than the whole country.

In addition, the number of newly registered enterprises decreased compared to the same period last year, along with the high number of enterprises withdrawing from the market, which shows that investment, production and business activities of enterprises are facing many difficulties...

According to the Quang Nam Statistics Office, some products had an Industrial Production Index (IIP) decrease compared to the same period, such as: soft drink production decreased by 16.6%; beer of all kinds decreased by 70.6%; other types of hard coal decreased by 20.9%; cardboard boxes and crates decreased by 21.2%; electricity production decreased by 32.9%...

Mr. Hung proposed many solutions to promote economic development in the coming months. In particular, it is necessary to focus on disbursing capital sources, especially capital for 2022 and 2023. Analyzing the budget revenue situation, Mr. Dang Phong - Director of the Department of Finance said that the budget deficit in 2024 is likely to occur because the sectors that contribute large revenue sources are still facing difficulties.

Regarding the decrease in revenue from beer and alcohol, many opinions suggested that the Provincial People's Committee work with the brewery to remove difficulties and find solutions to increase consumption output.

Concluding the working session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu requested that departments and branches need to make more efforts and determination to carry out tasks and remove difficulties in all fields.

In particular, the Department of Planning and Investment needs to study solutions to accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital. Departments and branches need to pay attention to medium-term public investment capital for 2025 - 2030, especially proactively working with central ministries and branches to register for investment...

Regarding difficulties for businesses, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu suggested that attention should be paid to and focused on removing difficulties for businesses, especially Thaco. Currently, Thaco is investing in many sectors and fields in the province, so there are many problems that need timely support from the province.
