The conference aims to discuss and evaluate the achievements and difficulties in waste prevention and control, propose tasks and solutions for waste prevention and control in the coming time, especially to remove difficulties and obstacles of pending and long-term projects, to practice thrift, free up human resources and develop society.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the attention and achievements of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption in the work of preventing and combating waste in recent times.
The Prime Minister emphasized that waste is the cause of the weakening of economic resources and people's trust. Currently, waste exists quite commonly in many different forms and shapes in the following areas: Financial management, credit, public assets, public investment, land, mineral resources; State and enterprise capital management; labor management, working time, enterprise investment, etc.
In order to mobilize all economic resources and contribute to the development of the macro economy in the coming time, the Prime Minister proposed that there should be solutions to completely resolve the causes of the weakening, loss and waste of economic resources; review and re-evaluate all the work that has been done and has not been done; adjust inappropriate policies; consolidate the apparatus, review the work and facilities to operate effectively and combat waste.

At the conference, ministries, branches, provincial and municipal authorities presented contents related to management mechanisms, difficulties, obstacles, and shortcomings in the process of implementing tasks; the situation and results of implementation of prevention and combat of waste of economic resources in the past time; review work related to land resources; review of projects with difficulties and obstacles... Thereby, it is the basis for the Government and ministries to have timely instructions in the process of directing, operating, and releasing resources for national development in the new period.
