From coordinating professional tournaments to accompanying athletes in international arenas, VNG is striving for the common development of Vietnamese e-sports.
On September 25, 2024, a highly anticipated event for the global eSports community will take place: the 2024 League of Legends World Championship (CKTG 2024), held in many cities across Europe such as: London (UK), Berlin (Germany) and Paris (France). This is a top tournament gathering top teams from all over the world, held annually since 2011.
GAM Esports and Viking Esports are the two Vietnamese representatives participating in the final round, after successfully surpassing 7 teams at the VCS Summer 2024 tournament held on August 17-18. After 5 years of not being able to organize due to the Covid pandemic, the VCS offline final round "Forever We Stand" was organized by VNGGames in collaboration with Riot Games at Nguyen Du Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City. More than 3,000 tickets were "sold" after only 15 minutes of opening for sale and nearly 240,000 viewers watched the event online.
This year's 2024 World Finals will consist of three rounds: Play-In Round, Swiss Round and Knockout Round, with the participation of 20 teams that have qualified in the countries. The total prize money of the tournament is up to 2.225 million USD, of which the champion will receive 445,000 USD, equivalent to 20% of the prize money.
As the exclusive publisher in Vietnam, VNGGames has continuously worked with the developer Riot Games to support domestic and international eSports tournaments, creating conditions for participating teams to compete, compete, and learn from experience. On August 14, 2024, VNGGames and Riot Games signed a strategic cooperation agreement to develop an eSports tournament system for League of Legends by 2025, with the common goal of bringing a large-scale League of Legends tournament across Asia - Pacific, gathering the top teams in the region, including Vietnam.
In addition to League of Legends, VNGGames is also the organizer of a series of other professional and systematic eSports tournaments in Vietnam such as: PUBG Mobile National Championship, PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2024, Valorant Ascension Pacific 2024, through which teams representing Vietnam are selected to compete in international arenas.
In addition, VNGGames is also a strategic partner of the Vietnam Entertainment Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA), closely cooperating in the process of selecting athletes for the SEA Games and ASIAD as well as consulting and supporting the host country in organizing e-sports competitions at these regional sporting events.
At ASIAD 19, Vietnamese eSports was in the top 4 of the continent. Previously, at the 32nd SEA Games, Vietnamese eSports won 7 medals, including 1 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals. The national eSports team also excelled in ranking first in the 31st SEA Games with 4 gold and 3 silver medals.
VNG's dedication not only lays the foundation for the development of domestic e-sports, but also contributes to raising the stature of Vietnamese e-sports in the international arena. VNG always aims to build a professional e-sports ecosystem and develop Vietnamese e-sports in a sustainable and international direction.
