Efforts to connect national digital and develop AI for Vietnamese people

As the most widely used messaging and communication application in Vietnam, Zalo has effectively promoted “digital connection” for all three sectors: Government – ​​Enterprises – Users in 2024. Not stopping there, the big goal that Zalo is aiming for is to elevate “digital connection” to “AI connection” for Vietnamese users.

Maintain the top position

As of the end of September 2024, Zalo had 77.6 million monthly active users, with 1.9 billion messages sent every day — the highest number ever.

Zalo is proud to maintain its No. 1 position for 16 consecutive quarters as the most favorite messaging platform in Vietnam. Zalo's popularity is recognized by many generations, from work to entertainment and connection. Data from Q3/2024 shows that the percentage of Zalo users in Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z are all outstanding, with 75%, 56% and 40% respectively, higher than Messenger and Facebook.

Zalo has penetrated every activity of Vietnamese people, becoming an indispensable communication platform in daily life.


According to the 2024 summary report of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), Zalo is currently leading the domestic social networking market with nearly 70% market share, surpassing the top 3 cross-border platforms Facebook, TikTok, and Google in Vietnam.

Applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to personal products

Since 2017, Zalo has been a pioneer in investing in AI with the vision of making AI a powerful assistant in users' daily lives. Over the past 8 years, Zalo has continuously integrated advanced AI technologies, turning creative AI ideas into useful, unique features right in the application.

A typical example is zStyle, a Generative AI application product, which has quickly attracted users in just a few months. Innovative features such as AI Avatar and AI cards help users personalize the experience, especially during the holidays.

In October 2024, Gen AI technology from Zalo AI also helped VIB International Bank issue credit cards with personalized designs, reaching more than 4,000 cards in just 2 days. This success is a clear demonstration of the wide applicability of AI, from personalizing services to supporting businesses to boost sales. Also on the occasion of October 20, up to 5 million AI cards were created on Zalo, of which more than 2 million cards were sent by users to special women in their lives on Vietnamese Women's Day.

Zalo continuously deploys “in-app” activities on major holidays such as Zalo AI writes poetry on March 8 (2023), Small joys light up long days (2022), Women - Support through the years (2021), Flowers to give - Women to cherish (2020).


In the advertising sector, Adtima – a leading advertising solutions provider in the Zalo ecosystem – has repositioned itself with an “AI-first” strategy, focusing on optimizing more than 10,000 advertising campaigns. As a result, conversion rates increased by 35%, while reach costs decreased by 20%. This achievement helped Adtima and Zalo AI win the “Enabling Technology Company of the Year” award at Vietnam MMA Smarties 2024, affirming their pioneering position in the technology and communications industry.

Adtima and Zalo AI were also honored with the “Enabling Technology Company of the Year” award in the “Industry Awards” category.


Notably, after 4 years of launch, Kiki Auto officially reached the milestone of 1 million installations and uses in December 2024, an impressive achievement when this growth rate is almost close to the car consumption rate in Vietnam (according to the October 2024 report of VAMA and TC Motor, nearly 1,250 cars are sold every day).



This affirms Kiki Auto's pioneering role in developing the Vietnamese AI assistant market, thanks to its deep understanding of the specific needs and interests of Vietnamese users related to the technology and transportation fields.

“Digital bridge” between Government, people and businesses

Responding to the “National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030”, Zalo has pioneered the development of products supporting digital transformation for ministries, localities, and businesses of all sizes. More than just a simple messaging application, Zalo is increasingly asserting its position as a strategic digital connection platform between the government and the people.

By the end of 2024, Zalo had 17,273 Zalo OA (Official Zalo Accounts) belonging to state agencies and utilities (health, education, etc.), serving more than 40 million followers, covering 63 provinces and cities, supporting people to look up information, carry out administrative procedures and interact with the government.

Zalo OA will continue to be an important piece on the journey to bring technology closer to people in an effective and practical way.


For many years, Zalo has always played a proactive role in community activities. Notably, during the Yagi storm in September 2024, Zalo supported the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control to send more than 143 million messages updating information and instructions on storm and flood prevention through Zalo OA "National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control". Zalo also quickly activated the Zalo SOS feature, helping people in provinces affected by the storm update their personal status. In just 10 days, Zalo SOS recorded about 1 million people updating their safety status, 151,000 people connecting for support and 87,000 emergency contacts.

When technology becomes a "lifesaver" for people to confidently overcome natural disasters.


Zalo's value-added services (zVAS) segment has also made great strides in the past year, not only supporting businesses to effectively approach and interact with people, but also taking advantage of this bridge to accelerate digital transformation and improve business efficiency. Examples include zCloud with improvements in scalability and reliability, helping to optimize business operations, or zBusiness providing comprehensive digital transformation solutions, optimizing processes and increasing work efficiency.

In addition, Zalo Mini App (ZMA) is also becoming an important trend on the digital transformation journey. Recently, at the Customer Appreciation event with the message "First We Build, Now We Grow", ZMA opened up new potential for businesses to reach more than 77.6 million Zalo users. Impressive results from 12 pioneering partners, such as 3x revenue growth and 58% reduction in operating costs, have affirmed the outstanding efficiency of this platform. ZMA is expected to become a new digital touchpoint trend, building a comprehensive solution ecosystem, helping businesses not only reach customers but also develop sustainably through personalized interactions and technology optimization.

Thanks to its achievements and tireless contributions to digital transformation and community support, Zalo has been honored to receive many prestigious certificates of merit and awards: awarded a Central-level certificate of merit by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; 3 provincial and city-level certificates of merit from the Department of Culture and Information of Ha Giang, Quang Nam provinces and Hanoi city in 2024.

Entering 2025, Zalo will continuously test new technologies and ideas, constantly develop and perfect the service ecosystem to work with Vietnamese users to build a comprehensive and effective digital society.
