At a meeting with Chinese regulators, Apple CEO Tim Cook pledged to continue expanding investment in the mainland.
On October 23, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) hosted a working delegation from Apple led by CEO Tim Cook.
The two sides discussed topics such as Apple's business operations in China, network data security management, and cloud services.
At the reception, Minister Jin Zhuanglong shared that in recent years, China has continuously created new opportunities for foreign companies to invest and operate in the telecommunications sector.
He hopes Apple will continue to deeply engage with the Chinese market, increase investment in innovation, and share benefits with domestic enterprises.
Mr. Cook said Apple is willing to seize the opportunities from China's openness, continue to expand investment, and contribute to the high-quality development of the industrial supply chain.
The second trip in 2024 underscores the importance of China to Apple, analysts say. Digital transformation and the application of digital technology in the country represent a huge opportunity. Actively participating in the supply chain and industry is a win-win cooperation.
On Weibo, the Apple CEO posted his itinerary in mainland China. He visited the Apple Store in Wangfujing, met with students from Agricultural University and Zhejiang University, and learned how they use iPhones and iPads to help farmers.
In March, he traveled to China to open a new Apple Store in Shanghai — Apple's second-largest retail store globally — and attend the China Development Forum in Beijing.
